I'm currently looking for a roll cage for my car, 89' coupe XE. I have found the Autopower to be the nicest so far. The only concern I have is being able to drive comfortably, I am 6'4". I need to slide my seat all the way back and recline somewhat. Does anyone have any experiance with this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Help Please!

roll cage in a street car = bad idea if you crash.

contrary to popular belief, a roll cage is only a good thing in a race vehicle, where the driver is wearing a helmet. without head protection, your body will stretch in an accident and you may hit your head on the main hoop, or a limb would hit a side bar, or something. it's quite dangerous to drive a roll caged car without a helmet.

also, i think it's illegal, as it modifies the crash structure and characteristics of the car.

also, if you do decide to go rollcage, i would advise you to get an aftermarket seat and lower seat rails to keep your head as far away from the main hoop as possible.

it's a problem wearing a helmet. it was for me, i had a 10pt safety21 cage. it works wonders for chassis stiffening but it takes up the back seat and makes getting into the car with full buckets a PITA. i have gotten into two accidents with my cage installed and no injuries or problems with the cage.

only problem i found was actually on the track WEARING a helmet, i would actually have the helmet hit the roof bar (not the main hoop, if your seat is that far back you have issues or you are laying down) and i'm 6'3" so you can do the math.

good luck. i'm not a fan of autopower because of the way they go together...not my favorite but i'm used to safety21 quality and there aren't many alternatives in the states.

I'm 6'4" and have a 10 point cage. With my Snell 95 helmet, I clear everything in the car.
