from what I know you need to custom fab one, or have it done for you. The one for the coupe doesnt clearn the top from what I hear...

I addded a CP Racing front strut tower brace (attaches to the strut towers AND the firewall) and it helped a ton.

Do-Luck makes a brace that goes on the floor behind the front seats....

I'm looking into having a brace made for the rear strut towers....

Yes, you can, It will be ugly but it's the only way the convert will be ever allowed on a race track(even for a fun run, sanctioned anyway). The hard points where the seatbelts would normally be on a coupe/hatch is where the bridge is made over the head of the seats and back down in a upside down "u", then, a x brace behind the front seats on a diagonal to the rear seat top sides to the bracing hard points there.

Get a welder to do it cheap!Good Luck,-Jarret

I don't think a rear strut tower brace can even fit back there. Plus, there are two cross braces connecting the strut towers.

As for the roll bar. A custom one will work best. The one by autopower contacts the top when it's up. The two rear feet go back too far before angling down. I think they were trying to keep rear seat room in the coupe, but the convertible's roof angle is different from the coupe.

You're out of luck with the floor bar by do-luck, it ties to the seatbelt hard points on the normal cars, and since the dors hold the bottom belt mount, It's useless. The best solution is a strut tower bar!

the same coupe\ fastback seatbelt mounting points are also on the convertible's frame, they just aren't used. the do luck rxb will fit.

I'm going to be fabbing a rollbar/frame brace for my conv... I will post photos when I get to it. I don't have back seats anymore so I won't be concerned about that!

one of my friend's father is a pit crew chief on the NASCAR craftsmen truck circuit. In the off season I'm gonna talk him into making me a roll bar. He joked about getting Jack Roush to make it

I'll be posting some pics of my interior very soon, it is completely gutted.

Removing door pillars, relocating seat belts, replacing all seats, door panels, running stereo wires, new carpet, installing speakers...

if you go to IO port racing, there is a "convertible" option in the drop down "roof type" menu for 240sx roll bars.Has anyone tried one of those? I was under the impression that it was a different roll bar than their coupe/hatch bars and should fit the vert...?

Hopefully that link works, if not just go to http://www.ioportracing.com and go to roll bars, then select from the drop down menu. I have been reading all the back posts in the convertible forum and it seems like people tried to fit the coupe bar on the vert, but I didn't see anyone mention selecting "convertible" as their roof top and seeing what happens.I think the best bet is to have one made. By the time you get the autopower race roll bar (the cheapest one I would consider using) with a harness bar and shipped to your door its going to be around $500, which is what it would cost you to have a similar one welded by a shop.

an old member of our boards ordered that bar (this was about 2 years ago). He confirmed that that bar does not work because the rear feet interfere with the top when it is up.

I read his post and he said he tried the "coupe" bar, I believe. But its way too much money for shipping to have them build it and send it and have it not fit, thats for sure.

wow back from the dead!

lol for the record I called IO port like last week and they said that the vert bar drop down list option is just a generic list and they dont make a bar specifically for the vert.

But if the coupe bar works and just hits the top then I need to know that because I dont have a top. It would be cheaper for me to buy the autopower and have the rear feet or rear bracing modified than to build a custom bar. Can anyone confirm that the main hood and everything from a an autopower coupe bar does physically fit inside the vert?

also avoid those cusco "cages" like the plaque they are good for posuer value only. They won't pass tech anywhere and I seriously doubt with their heim joints that they would be much good for stiffening. They use relatively thin wall tubing as well, and at angles that make me question their ability to hold the cars weight in a roll over. The way the front bars bend around the dash, they would probably just collpase there if any real load was ever placed on them. And that would probably put you in more danger of being injured by the rollcage than it would save you from danger of being crushed in a rollover.

why would you want to cut a coupe top off? just start with a coupe... easier.

This is Dukeboy's vert. He's got a POWERZAMCAM 4-point roll bar (assuming that's custom made) and a front strut bar.

I was going to use my vert for the track or something, but I might just use it for cruising. I plan on buying another 240 later on. (S13 hatch or S14 kouki) I'll use that for track instead.

oh yeah. forgot i had loaded this off of my camera a while back

Thanks again to George (Dukeboy) for letting me snag those pics. I really like the overall design, except I would add an SCCA style cross bar to it and make it a bit narrower to allow the interior to stay in.

If I change my mind and decide to add something to aid in rigidity, I will most likely base it off Dukeboy's vert.

Thanks for the pics..

no problem.

i just realized that his bar leans too far forward to add in an SCCA style cross bar. The seats would get in the way. So I guess another alteration I would have to make is to lean the bar back at a bit more of an angle
