From the Detroit News:

Ford Motor Co. sales jumped 43 percent in February compared with a year ago, joining General Motors Co. in posting strong results as GM sales rose 12 percent. Chrysler Group LLC eked out a 0.47 percent gain from February, 2009.

Including Volvo, Ford sold 142,285 vehicles for the month compared to GM's 141,951.

The other big gainer for the month was Nissan Motor Co., with a 29 percent increase. The Nissan Division reported a sales rise of 32 percent with a pair of small vehicles, the Versa subcompact car and Rogue compact crossover, achieving record sales in February. The Infiniti luxury brand was up almost 11 percent.

Honda Motor Co., which has been gaining sales in the wake of Toyota's recall problems, posted a sales increase of 12.7 percent in February compared with the same month in 2009.

Interesting stuff, more support for our decision to buy the Rogue - if that many others feel it's a good choice then we can't be that far off!

Thanks Palmateer for digging that up and taking the time to share it with us.

While we are on this topic...

In Canada, the Rogue was Nissan's best selling vehicle for February 2010. I believe this is the first time this has occurred. Once again, the Rogue made up the lion's share of Nissan Truck/SUV sales (62%) and bested Nissan's 2 most popular sellers, the Altima and Versa.

Hello,I am planning to buy 2010 Rogue 360.

well there are couple of apprehensions I have.

1)how popular the model is ? I don't see very often on the roads compared to CRV/RAV4 or similar crossovers.2) what is the resale value of Rogue. I am planning to use it for 2-3 years.

My budget is ~20K. The one reason I am considering rogue is, VPP offer from Nissan and 0% APR.

do you suggest any other vehicle which could be better suited as per my requirements(Popularity/reliability/Price and resale value). I am looking for crossovers only

With your criteria of popularity/reliability/price/resale value, I'd have to guess there are only a few other options besides the Rogue: Honda CRV and Toyota Rav4. Frankly I'm not sure if you can get into either of those for under 20k, but you could probably get close. You might even add a base model Subaru Forrester or Outback to that list.

I don't have sales numbers, but I'd guess the CRV is the most popular of that bunch, followed by the Rav4 (although I've not seen as many of those around as I used to -- the Rogue seems to be more common now, anecdotally, at least).

I think Hyundai has a small crossover (Tucson), but I don't know much about it. Hyundais have improved a lot in recent years, but still I don't think they'd have the resale value of a Toyota, Honda, Nissan, or Subaru. Kia has the Sportage, but I think you lose some quality there as well as resale value. And Suzuki has some small SUVs/crossovers, but I'm not very familiar with them.

(Edited to change the Hyundai CUV from Sante Fe to Tucson)
