Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to these boards. Just got my 240SX coupe and have really enjoyed working on it so far. Since I've had it, I have noticed this one lone green wire that has been running from the battery, snaked along the firewall and escaping into a little hole in the firewall and ended up behind the brake pedal with a really crummy rig job. After the wire comes through the firewall, it comes down and it is butt connected with another wire that has a fuse and then continues to a little box behind the break pedal. I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. The hole that is in the firewall seems like there should be something there that is missing. I'm fairly new to these cars and not the best mechanic in the world so please take it easy on me. Thanks everyone.

Here you can see where it leads into the hole. Did something originally go there where the hole is?

In the car now.....shot is of the butt connector, fuse and block that comes behind the break pedal.

Your guess is as good as ours. That's obviously not a factory wire, and was added by on of your car's previous owners. Its going to be a constant power source for something inside the cabin, since that hole goes through the firewall and into the passenger compartment. Are there any non-stock electronics in the car?

Im not a 100% sure on this, but i know that one of the boxes behind your pedals( i think it might be the green one) is for your headlights its part of the pop-up control.
I know another box behind the pedal is for getting your key out of the ignition(its a stupid system and i have no idea what the point of it is for) but im not sure exactly what it looks like so if you want you can put your keey in the ignition and turn it to "on" then disconect that wire from the battery and try to remove your key, if you cant then you know what the wire and box is for.

Thank you both for the help. I traced the ground wire from that little box back to the taillights and after a little searching I discovered that little box is the brake light switch. Surely it wasn't wired like that from the factory?

Is your car automatic????? Because from the looks of the hole it looks like it might be where the clutch master for a manual trans goes...
