I wouldn't worry too much about the chrome plastic trim. Chrome plated ABS plastic trim pieces have been an automotive standard for many years in the both aftermarket trim accessories, as well as in use by the auto manufacturers themselves. A good example its the Nissan Rogue Grille. For the most part ABS chrome plating is extremely tough and typically outlast the original owner of the car. The chrome plating process is actually known as Vacuum metalizing and is currently the industries most common process used to chrome plate plastic. That said, vacuum metalizing DOES NOT have the same durability or corrosive resistance that "metal" chrome plating does. As such, chrome plated plastic should never be cleaned with abrasive materials as you can scratch the surface . The Nissan Murano has been around for years and came from the factory with chrome plated plastic grilles. Granted, there were one or two model years with the Murano where the grills plastic chrome plating "bubbled" but it was linked to a manufacturing process and has since been corrected.
As for the black plastic pillar trim on eBay... I'll admit I'm intrigued. My only concern is my wife and I purchased a new refrigerator several years ago that has a piano black plastic front. While it looked super cool when we got it... and we have been "super careful" using only clean lint free micro fiber cloths to clean it... the surface is now a myriad of swirls and fine hairline scratches. I'm just guessing... but having gloss piano black plastic trim on a car, exposed to the elements, will be a struggle to keep looking nice.
If this eBay option were less expensive I'd be tempted to get it and replace it as needed... but for 50 bucks... I'll mask off the pillars on my car and spray them gloss black using a high quality gloss black "appliance" epoxy paint. (about $6.00 a can). It's super tough, will stand up to the elements and will exhibit a harder surface than plastic when cured.
Granted any black automotive paint would also work... but you can't beat appliance epoxy for durability and chip resistance etc.
