I have a 2010 Nissan Rogue equipped with an intelligent key. Sometimes it works right away, and other times I have to sit there and keep trying to start the car. Same thing when unlocking the door. Sometimes it will work on the first time, and other times I have to hit the key several times before it will unlock. I have gone to the dealer with this problem, but they wanted to charge me $120 to fix it. I think it is a flaw with Nissan. Has anyone else had this problem, and if you did, how did you resolve it. I have changed the batteries in each remote and disconnected the car battery to see if it would reengage. Neither one helped.

Thanks for your answers.

My key does the same thing once in a blue moon, I mentioned it to the dealer a while back and they checked the battery in the fob and it was still good so we left it at that. I know if I have my fob behind my cell phone in my pocket it will not work most of the time so I keep them in different pockets.

Thanks Rogue. I did watch the video and I even downloaded the instructions from Nissan that tell you how to do this. But it did not work. The Rogue has a different type of ignition than the one in the video.

Thanks ImStrcken. I already changed the batteries in both of my key fobs. That did not help.I even disconnected the car battery. Once for 15 minutes, and then again for about 5 hours. Neither one helped.

I noted that Nissan put out a technical bulletin on this, but it is not one that can be read by us. This tells me Nissan is aware of the problem but does not want to get into a recall mode.

Hmm, sorry the vid wasn't helpful. Could you post a link to the TSB. And the problem is not limited to one fob, so I'd rule out both being defective (hey, it's possible, but not likely). If a new 3rd fob is programmed for your vehicle and it too fails, the logical culprit would be the receiver in your vehicle.

This is the Technical Service Bulletin issued by Nissan. But, I can't find it anywhere to be able to read it and see if it addresses the problem I am having. Also, this is an intermittent problem. Meaning it will work about 40% of the time with no problem, and then just not work the other 60% of the time. If anyone has any info on this bulletin I would appreciate knowing what it says.

Bulletin No: NTB12-009
Date of Bulletin: 04/24/2012
Summary Description: NISSAN: DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK INOPERATIVE WITH INTELLIGENT KEY. *KB

Thanks for posting the info. I'm at work now, using my tablet. I'll try to research it more when I get home.

I have this problem with my 2010 rogue as well. Always at random. I usually just open the door and manually lock if I'm leaving. Opening to get in is beyond annoying though. I do keep my key in my purse and sometimes I have to put my purse right up against the lock for it to work, other times just in reasonable distance. I have no help to answer this but would also love to know why it happens!

I would guess if you leave it in your purse and knowing what past girlfriends purses have looked like (they carried enough stuff in there to survive a nuclear war ;)) that items in the purse are blocking the signal.

Try having the keys in your hand or pocket and see how often it works.

This appears to be a problem with Nissan itself. However, they do not want to address the problem. All one has to do is to google this problem and see all the complaints. Very poor on Nissan's part. If they are willing to fix it for $120, then they must already know what the fix is. They should send it out or recall the vehicles. The car is now 3 years old, and next year will be time to trade it. Because of this, and Nissan's lack of acknowledgement, I will not be replacing it with another Nissan. Any company can have a problem. It is how they handle it for their customers that counts!

That doesn't mean anything other than there are complaints. Google any product and you'll find complaints. That doesn't mean a recall is justified. One has to determine the validity of complaints, frequency of the problem and factor in the quantity of product out there. I'm not saying that a recall isn't justified in this particular case but Googling for problems doesn't prove anything in and of itself.

hi
I have a trouble with my Rogue 2011.
Today my both keys "is not detected".
Before, I had a problem with key, but only my key doesn't open doors. I took out metal key, opened the door, and into the car all worked.

Today - not. :(

Tomorrow, I'm going to Dealer.

P.s: Both situations were after I closed car clicked the "button" on the passenger side.
P.s2: I already tried to disconnect battery and played with ignition as described in the instructions.

I need only to dealer? or are there other variants?

Aliaksandr, would you please let me know how the dealer has fixed this problem. I still have not gotten it fixed and I have tried everything I can find on the net.

Thanks,

Mike

Always check your battery! :)

1th my key has a wrong battery (old owner insert CR2016, and need CR2025 it is twice thinner than need) simple lost contact.
2nd key - simple battery is dead, while I thought that it's working.
