I notice that when I am near another car with HID's (especially Acura & BMW) my Rogues HID's look like they are not even HID's compared to those cars. They are not nearly as bright, and the cut off is not nearly as sharp....I also notice that the cutoff on my drivers side light is not as sharp as the passengers....my car has never been in an accident...but my main concern is the brightness....anyone else notice it?? Does anyone know what the OEM wattage is on the Rogues...in comparison to the Acura's???

I think it might be the blueness of their bulbs making them seem brighter...i know on the mdx it looks super blue like almost aftermarket.
Also keep in mind they are luxury vehicles with better projectors (meaning better cutoff and light patterns)...im not sure if the Rogue HID headlights have projectors or not (dont think it does).

You could try upgrading to an aftermarket HID bulb??? maybe 6000k?
do a search people have done it in the past

Edit: go through this thread post-your-rogue-hid-xenon-lights-pics-t ... ogue%20HID
theres a few more you can search on as well

Wattage is the same on Acura MDX and Rogue which is 35W. It's a headlight itself with projector that can produce up to 50% more light output than regular hid headlight. At the same time not every projector made correctly like if you go to different forums people upgrading their projector on luxury cars to different projector. Just check the projectors of the Murano and you will see a difference comparing to Rogue. Other cars such as CR-V or RAV4 etc don't even offer xenon headlights. So far I heard the best projector ever been made was on new generation of Lexus LS460. You can upgrade your hid if you want to switch your kit to aftermarket D2R kit with power of 50-55W.
Too bad V-LEDS stopped selling digital premium hid kits. I have a set in my fog lights and I would love to put the same kit to the headlights. Here's the comparison that Xebrite is showing of 35W vs. 50W: Image

wow that's a big difference in comparison. Thanks for the info...I didn't know that projectors made that much of a difference.... that's probably what it is then.

It's a plain reflector. Notice the spherical shaped lens on the Murano? They are projectors.

Stock D2R bulbs (the type used in the Rogue) are ~4200K in color temperature. You could get a bit of that 'blue' effect and sacrifice some of the light output by upgrading to 5000K bulbs.
They are not nearly as bright, and the cut off is not nearly as sharp....
Projector lamps are a totally different animal when it comes to light patterns. You will never be able to reproduce this with a reflector housing.

Actually I emailed v-leds about that too and they told me it is being redesign so it should be out again

Apparently the blue effect found with OEM HID's is not because they use a higher color temperature bulb (>4300K), but an optical phenomenon created by the HID bulb and the lens. It seems to vary based on mfg and model.

Unfortunately, the general public has become fascinated with the 'blue' headlamp look and are willing to buy halogen bulbs that are tinted blue. Little do they realize that you actually get LESS usable light as the blue filter is blocking the a considerable amount of the light produced by a halogen lamp.

How much were the V-LED's premium HID kits?

When I bought mine, it was $99.99(Just the digital premium ballast) but since they are being redesign, chances are the price might change.
For others, right now it is on sell for $59.99 for the entire premium kit(not digital, and regular price is $99.99)

Thanks. What exactly is the difference between the premium and the premium digital kits?

One huge difference is the size. The digital ballast is about 1/4 about the size of a regular one.
And according to v-led:
V-Leds wrote:Our Premium Digital kit is more efficient (draws less current).Warm up time is only 15 seconds vs the standard kits 30 seconds. Aesthetically our Premium Ballast features a flat black finish with laser etched logo, the standard ballast is silver with a sticker. Our Premium Ballast can handle repeated on/off again power cycling with very minimal mis-fires. The Premium ballast is physically smaller and comes with a 2 year warranty vs 1 year.
