New to the forum and need some help.

All posts mention the brake booster tube but I cannot find it.

08 Rogue about 108 000 miles and running a little rough. I have spark plugs to change but would also like to run some seafoam before i do so.

If anyone can, please post a picture, diagram, video of the tube or point me to a post that already shows it.

Thanks. :dblthumb:

There is no need on a 08, if it has been that abused you have bigger problems than seafoam can fix

Here is a picture from the service manual. From the steps listed to remove it the booster appears like it might not be accessible without removing a couple things, however I am not sure if the line is still accessible (I am not driving my Rogue right now so I cannot check):

not true. we dont have D.I. so our intake valves will build up crud after 50,000 miles.

i would only slurp up half the bottle, and pour the rest into the fuel tank and let the injectors get a good cleaning as well. i just poured a whole bottle down my tank last month. no noticeable difference, but it certainly didn't hurt anything(nor was it useless).

Wow! more responses than I expected.

"Imstricken" thanks for the video that is exactly what I was looking for. I had also noticed how recessed the Brake booster itself was when looking for the line.

I will retrace the line to be sure.

"Orphanedcowboy" - I will be changing the plugs

Hi. New to the forum. Was wanting to save a few bucks & add a fuel system treatment to my daughter's 2010 Rogue (S AWD). Any suggestions? This was part of the dealer's recommended 60k service. Also was looking for advice on coolant, but I found a good thread on that already on the board.

Deff seafoam FTW! Great stuff, I even use it in my bike. But I also read in the manual that your not supposed to add any fuel treatment additives. Wonder why?

2009 Rogue manual 9-4:

Aftermarket fuel additives
NISSAN does not recommend the use of any
aftermarket fuel additives (for example, fuel
injector cleaner, octane booster, intake valve
deposit removers, etc.) which are sold commercially.
Many of these additives intended for gum,
varnish or deposit removal may contain active
solvent or similar ingredients that can be harmful
to the fuel system and engine.

I've been lurking around this forum for so long. Posted a few questions as well. Can't help to comment on this one...

I'm always doing my own basic maintenance (oil change, filter, cabin filter, etc) and I use fuel system cleaner everytime I change my oil at 8K kms with a full synthetic oil. I didn't notice any harm done doing it but I'd like to know if there's anybody here experiencing anything.

Good point, me too. I would love to know if anybody has noticed any MPG or engine issues. I think for the most part we all do our own routine maintenance, and I've always used seafoam in all my vehicles and bikes. But after reading that I stopped. I only used it once, after Hurricane Sandy during the gas shortage. Was nervous of getting altered gas.

Talked to a dealership guy today. They carry a treatment from MOC Products ($8.72). But I already bought the Seafoam. And surprisingly, their coolant is actually cheaper than it was on Amazon (by about $8). Thanks for all the comments.

Actually from what I've read over at bitog is that seafoam is really not that good, more like snake oil. For good results and something that's more safer, I would go with GM Techron, Redline Fuel system Cleaner, or Gumout Regane. You can easily get the Gumout Regane fuel system treatment here in Canada at any of the Walmarts or Canadian Tire stores.

I just checked and it's on sale at CT for half price, time to stock up. I use this towards the end of an oci, mix it in with a full tank of gas.

In Canada, Nissan dealers are selling this product:

So, just to be on the safe side, you can use it. I used it twice and had no issues.

Hi Everyone. Has anyone used Marvel Mystery oil in their fuel tank or engine? Good or Bad?

Cheers,

If you use a good quality oil from day one in any vehicle and change your oil at the manufacturers specified intervals, I see no need to use any oil additives.

Thanks for advice Rogue 1. How about the fuel system? Is it good to use Marvel Mystery Oil? Merry Christmas.

Sorry, no personal experience. Seems to get mostly positive reviews. I guess it depends on how many miles you've got and if there's heavy carbon buildup.

hello,

i have a 2009 rogue sl. i've never added anyting to the car that wasn't approved, but since the vehicle is getting older, maybe it's time and i'd like some suggestions.

for my motorcycle i'd always add a product called sea foam to the fuel as a fuel injection cleaner / general gunk remover. I grew up on marvel mystery oil in all my cars, and there are always some who love and some who hate these products. with new technology in cars today i'm wondering if the additives in gas are enough or if I should add some sort of product to the crankcase or gas tank to keep things running factory new.

i'd also like to ask about dry gas. again, this was always something dad did a few times during the year, but of course in winter. as we are preparing for near record lows in NYC this weekend, i'd like some input from the experts here.

thanks for looking and sharing your wisdom.
