Installing an HID kit is quite easy: The ones sold on ebay or by other sellers are almost all plug and play now. It is about $140 for a good HID kit (search on the forum, I already gave a good trusted seller name). The only part where you can make a mistake is by inverting the wires going in the OEM harness. If this does not light up, you inverted them.

When installed, verify that you don't blind incoming traffic (you will may have to move your headlights a little bit more down) because of the glare (these headlights are not designed to deal with two times more light than halogen).

As for the blue ones, I won't recommend it as you will lose a lot of light output, but it depends of what you want to do with it:

The most light output available: 4300K (no filter on the bulbs: white with maybe a little bit of yellow: OEM look).A good compromise to be sure the light is white: 5000K.The more you go in K, the bluer it will be (blue filter on the bulbs more and more intense).

Yes, I did it and it's as easy as doing a normal headlight. You'll have to take off the windshield washer neck and the air intake thing. Unplug the battery to reduce the risk of getting shocked and death... Then you twist the black covers from the back of the headlights. Twist off the metal power thing. You'll then see two little prongs in which you'll have to pinch to feel them pop out. The light will become loose and then you can pull it out. Put the new one in and pinch the prongs back into place(kind of hard I guess because there's like two levels it need to be popped back into) Plug back the power thing and then twist back the black cover. Re-plug the battery...and voilà

On other words, it's pretty easy to do...

A question for you Buddyle23: Do you always unplug the battery?I usually don't and when I want more safety, I unplug only the associated circuit breaker.

What happens when you plug back the battery? Do you lose some information? What about the radio, need a code to start it back?

The radio is not protected by a code of any sort. You will however lose the radio station presets. There isn't much else affected by disconnecting the battery. The only other ones I can think of is re-initialization of the sunroof and driver side window anti-pinch systems... but that is a simple DIY operation.

Interesting... The degree of difficulty installing aftermarket Xenons was never a consideration to me. I know I could do it. Personally... I had two other concerns that always stopped me short from doing it.

1) Theft What about theft? Is it still the issue it once was? By 2004 both dealers and insurance companies began warning consumers about the increased risk of theft and damage to their vehicles if they went with the Xenon headlight option. Reports of multiple thefts (attacks on the same vehicle) were commonplace by 2007. Car companies like Nissan even came out with aftermarket kits you could install to hamper the theft, making the removal more difficult. However, it only made matters worse because the thieves did not let the complexity of the removal slow them down. They simply starting using crowbars and cutting the main wiring harness leading to the headlights. In some European imports the headlight wiring harness is incorporated with the airbag system. Cut wiring harnesses activated the airbags resulting in repairs costing $10,000.

As late as 2007 insurance companies reported Xenon thefts were almost as common as wheel/rim and stereo thefts. NOTE: The bad guys only want the burners and ballasts, your headlight housing assembly is of no use to them. So... busting out your fancy plastic lenses or damaging your car and paint as they pry out your headlamp assemblies with a crowbar is of no concern to the crook.

2) Aftermarket Blue Xenons are illegal in the US

A consideration .... maybe even bigger than the risk of theft... Are they legal?

The last thing I need is to be pulled over and given a hefty ticket. First I'd have the expense of paying the fine... then I'd be out the money I paid for the headlamps since the ticket is also a warning to remove them. If you don't remove them get stopped by the cops again... then "Hold on to your shorts!" Even if you don't get pulled over and ticketed... many more people are dismayed everyday when they find their automobile Inspection Station fails their car for having aftermarket Xenons.

The following is a cut and past from Wiki:_________________________________________________

True xenon headlights are legal in all 50 states. True xenon lights are sometimes confused with "blue headlights". True xenon lights do give off a very slight, barely noticeable blue tint, but still appear white, which allows it to comply with the white colored headlamp requirement in all 50 states. Many fake or pseudo xenon lights are marketed to unsuspecting buyers. These lights are in fact illegal to put on a public roadway. They are legal to put on your vehicle as long as you don't put the vehicle on the highway. As of 2008 the only factory legal xenon lights come on BMW, Mercedes, and some other high end European sedans. The aftermarket xenon conversion kits being sold are not true xenon lights and are not legal. An easy way to tell if the lights are illegal is if they give off a very noticeable blue color when viewed looking toward the vehicle from outside of it.

In the US aftermarket conversion is illegal. Some countries have the law only for OEM (factory fitted) Xenon lights like UK. Other countries have no such law and you can do what ever you want._________________________________________________

FYI: I'll probably still do the conversion ... just thought you should be aware of all the possible ramifications.

I spoke to one of the officer in PhiladelphiaShe told me that, you will not be pull over for having the blue xenon light onbut if you got pull over for something else like speeding and they saw you with a blue lightthey might include it in the ticket

I did got pull over once for speeding by the state police, but he never mention anything about my headlight, so I think, in Philadelphia(maybe PA also) as long as your headlight is installed correctly, that mean it does not blind oncoming traffic, it should be fine. My opinion, might not be true
