After using four different search terms in the fine search engine, I don't have an answer to using a Battery Blanket vs a Battery Pad [silicone heating pad]. When temps hit -20 F [OK, Canadians and Alaskans, quit yer catcalls] the banana trees in sub-tropical Wisconsin get stiff. I''d like to keep my battery above 32, if I can. Helps cranking -AND- charging...

Search found 8 matches: battery warmer Reference to TEMRO battery blanket
Search found 15 matches: battery heater
Search found 4 matches: battery blanket
Search found 7 matches: battery pad

FSM PG calls out a GR35 battery [Top terminals, SAE Post, R/H POS]- BCI standard is LxWxH 9 1/16 x 6 7/8 x 8 7/8, though in many Rogue applications, there is nothing above the battery terminals [you could use a little taller]. The perimeter of the battery is roughly about 32" around, 8" high.

Phillips-Temro 2020 catalog https://user-xdbqqk.cld.bz/PTI-2020-Catalog
Look at Page 12, the full catalog listing includes the Group 35 battery size.

For a Battery Blanket, Zerostart model 2800063, 80W, 120vac, 5" high, 36" long. Series 24, 24F, 24H,24R, 24T, 25, 27, 27F, 27H, 31, 34, 34R, 35, 74, 38

Nissan uses a battery cover, the FSM PG version is a rigid box, my '14 had a "quilted" cover around the sides. Can I stuff the battery blanket INSIDE the "quilted" battery cover? For the record, it CAN be done, my mechanic did it.

What is the purpose of the battery cover? Protect the battery from excessive heat?

Is there any benefit to a battery pad? Does it keep the battery from loosing heat through direct contact with the metal battery tray?

The factory quilt serves two purposes, thermal insulation and a trap for heavier-than-air outgassing from the battery vents, potentially reducing corrosion underneath the battery tray. It's good to have but not strictly necessary. The main purpose for insulation in your subarctic temperatures will be to reduce the electric bill for your warmer, provided it's a thermostatic type. Without external heat, everything in the box will be stone-cold an hour after shutdown anyway, no matter how much you insulate.

I'd buy that for a dollar... Huh, a solid "box" as shown in the FSM PG would seem to "funnel" outgassing and guide it down to the tray. A good reason they went to the quilt.

I haven't run any tests to prove it, but I think it may be adsorbent also, with some charcoal in the fabric.

I'm in Canada and had TEMRO battery blankets on many of my vehicles. I think the "only" advantage of them is keeping the battery warm in cold weather. I usually begin plugging in the battery blanket when parking outside overnight and it's colder then -13F/-25C and especially in -31F/-35C you can 100% tell the difference starting the frozen vehicle with a warm battery. I also noticed it seems to prolong the life of the battery.
I think the heat-loss through the metal tray is minimal. Usually a 60w/80w blanket keeps the battery quite toasty even at the above temperatures.
