Post

Hi all,
I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue SL, and i have had a problem for 2 years, and just now got to ask about it.

When new, the car used to have 2 distinct noises when being locked.
1) If locked using the key FOB, it beeped twice
2) If locked using the keyless button on the handle, it used to chirp (when locked and unlocked).

I noticed one day #2 above was very dim...the next day the sound was gone (#1 is still working). It has not come back since. I miss it and want it back.

Does anyone know where the chirp noise comes from? I would like to find the wiring or "horn" that makes the noise so i can diagnose it.

Better yet, have any of you had the issue and fixed it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome. Have you tried to hold lock and unlock buttons on fob at the same time for 2-3 seconds until the car flash the lights? Maybe the system is deactivated. Let us know...Thanks.

1st check your fuses.
2nd if you dig - its going to look like this, and its usually behind the front bumper and in front of the condenser/radiator support

Yes...i tried this...this only affects #1 (which is the Keyless FOB honk).

I even tried holding the door button to see if that was it....no effect.

I know this is an old thread, but this just also happened to my 2008 rogue. The chirp or digital honk when pressing the door handle unlock/lock button stopped working. The car unlocks still though, just the chirp stopped working.

The keyfob still works properly.

This happened to mine also (2014 SL Premium). When I had it at the dealer I mentioned it. They found that the connector between the car and whatever creates the chirping sound had come undone. I bet that's what happened to yours.

I know this is an old thread but I'll just post relevant info if it happens to others:

These chirps just stopped on our 2008 Rogue SL AWD.
I found the buzzer in front of the radiator and took it out.
Tested it, it's broken. Measured the signals at the plug, voltage pulses arrive when locking/unlocking using the door handle buttons.
Will replace with a generic piezo buzzer and put it in a more protected location.

The Nissan factory manual calls the part the 'INTELLIGENT KEY WARNING BUZZER' - it's in the DLK section.

The lookup code on parts.nissanusa.com is 25640G
There it's called 'BUZZER ASSY-KEYLESS & CARD ENTRY'
The current part number is 25641-C990E (this superseded the old part # 25641C990A)
MSRP is $70. Current price online $50+.

Location of the buzzer is shown in the DLK section of the factory manual on page DLK-305 (for the 2008 Rogue).
The manual says to remove the bumper and front grille for access, I was able to reach and remove it through the large slots under the license plate.
