Rogue AC light question

In the car, on a warm day temperature set at 70 degrees. The air conditioning light is not on. The system still blows cool air into the cabin, is this normal? If I do turn the AC on, it’s much stronger, and much colder. But, it seems to Air-conditioning air without actually having it wrong. Do others see this the same way?
