Hi all, I just bought the 2011 rogues sv and would like to get a locking gas cap and cross bars for it.

Does anyone have experience with the lockable gas cap on the 2011 model? where can i purchase one?
I'm not that concerned about someone stealing the gas, but i am concerned about the fact that someone can pours someone else into the tank.

Now for the crossbars. I couldnt get the dealer to throw those in for free.....so Im on my own. Does anyone know the bext place to get the factory OEM cross bars for the cheapest price? why even have the rails if you dont have the cross bars?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to the NICOClub Rogue forums rayjgold!

The locking gas cap many have used in actually mfg's by Stant. It's not an OEM part. Experiences seem to vary though... some have no issues, others always get the check engine light because the cap does not seal properly. You can read more about it via the Rogue Glossary.. scroll down to the Accessories and Modifications section:

the-official-rogue-faq-information-answ ... 07234.html

As for the crossbars, many places carry them. You can try our site sponsors on the RH sidebar =>

Or even a google search using the part number:

G3805-JM00A

Good luck!

Why have rails? They look good! :)

I also contemplated gettting crossbars in the past.

Here's a good deal on ebay now: For $92.46

Hey Casper. When did you get them because I don't see any rusty screws. My screws are full of rust right now and I got crossbars from the dealer when I purchased my car. I remember the way he told me at that time that all Rogues SL comes with them and I found out it's not true.

Oh I never end up getting the crossbars because I didn't want to ruin my fuel economy supposedly ...........they say when utilizing them.

I have enough tubes all over my Rogue but supriseingly my ( I KNOW ) inaccurate orange display computer says I get 24.2 mpg in city.

Also seems to be prevailing theme on the rusty screws, my friend who has a 2008 Rogue that came with crossbars has unappealing rusty screws now. If it was me I would have used some rust convertor to make it into a black primer. Or else change with new screws. Better than nasty orange spots.

I might get it someday when I am bored and run out of mods to do on my Rogue.

Thanks for the info. Is the stant part number mentioned in this thread, the same on 2011 models as it is for the earlier versions mentioned in this thread?

Rusty screws? Decreased fuel economy? Should i hold off on the crossbars???????? I dont plan to be using them in the near future anyway. Does the rust happen with all the screws/model years??

Yes, the Stant part # is #11508 or #10508. (The cap is the same, the part number is different because of the differences in packaging).

The Stant locking gas cap fits all Nissan and Infiniti vehicles from 2001 and later including the 2011 Rogue.

That's funny because you shouldn't see a big difference from it but you may get extra noise in the car. I'm going to use your phrase pretty often now :D

No decrease in fuel economy with the cross bar, the way you drive have more influence than these bars (they are quite aerodynamic, BTW).

As for rusty screws, I don't think mine are (at least, I did not notice it) and they are now permanently on my car (I used to remove the cross bars during winter for ease to remove the snow, but they will stay on this winter).
They are black primed, so not very pretty, but not rusty either.

Did you ever get the crossbars? I have a set that came with my 2010 Rogue that I didn't want on and had the dealer remove. They've been sitting in my closet collecting dust and I'd be willing to work out a deal. Let me know.

No I havent gotten the crossbars yet.....I thought I'd try to get them closer to a time when i would actually use them.....I've had a Rav4 with crossbars for almost 5 years and used them only once!!! So I thought...hey...what's the rush?

But I like good deals. what kinds of deal you talking about?

Hi all, picking up late here on the locking gas cap discussion. Bought a 2011 Rogue recently and discovered that there in fact is not a locking gas cap available for it. Here's a link that specifically notes that the locking gas cap does not fit 2011 Rogue: http://www.courtesyparts.com/stant-lock ... -p-36.html

In addition, I called Stant directly and they confirmed that they have no locking gas cap (yet) that fits the 2011 Rogue. Nissan doesn't sell one, can't find one at Pep Boys or Advanced. I guess it's SOL for now. Very disappointing, a locking gas cover was standard equip on the 1996 Maxima I traded in, why wouldn't they put something so simple and important on their latest vehicles?

I listed the gas cap that I bought that fits. I've been using it since NOV 2010 and havent had a problem with it yet....no check engine lights, that is.

Update: purchased the Stant 11508 gas cap and it does not fit my 2011 Rogue. The "shank" -- or whatever you call the threaded white plastic piece that goes into the tank's fill hole -- is longer than the shank on the gas cap that comes with the vehicle. I tried multiple times, different angles, rotating it in, etc, it just does not fit.

It's quite possible that the filler neck used in the 2011 model changed at some point and the cap was no longer compatible. Also, there have been other owners complaining of how difficult the Stant locking caps are to use.

I have no personal experience with them so I do not know.

I have just spoken to the parts department of our local dealership and I have been informed that a locking gas cap is unnecessary for our 2011 Rogue. Apparently it has a redesigned vent/filler that makes it impossible to siphon gas out of the tank. I have not found this information anywhere else so it would be a good idea if some of you could check with your own dealerships to see if this can be verified. I don't think my dealership is not telling the truth, I'm just curious why this information is not made available.
