Hi All, i have a 2009 Nissan Rogue that i need to title and register in NJ. I've been told a need a 'pencil trace' of the VIN number. Unfortunately i can only find the VIN under the windshield which cannot be penciled. Do you know where in the Rogue i can find an embossed VIN ?

Tried searching everywhere..

Thank you
Best
Michal

Try the drivers side door sill, B pillar near the bottom. If that one is not embossed, take a picture with your phone of the plate with the VIN and other vehicle info.

:wtf2: What kind of fu*king request is that?! Seriously, how ridiculous is that? I have never heard of such a thing. Total PITA requirement. Can't you have the VIN verified by an inspection mechanic or a notary or state police?

Anyway, the number will also usually be written in the firewall of your engine bay, but may not be on a stamped plate that's embossed for a pencil trace.

Sounds like you never checked the entire car before for locations of the VIN :inout: . There should be at least 5 other places that the VIN is slapped on by the factory. Check underneath the hood for one, driver's side door jam, etc.
