Could anyone advise where a 2008 factory jack can be purchased besides the dealer. The deal is asking $180 for it. I also went the some local junk yard but the car is too new to be found in a junk yard.

Does a murano uses the same jack as the rogue?

many thanks!!

Try going to the dealer and telling them you never got one when you purchased the car. Did you lose it? It's worth a try.

The jack for the Rogue is a standard scissor jack. Just about any kind will likely fit. Try looking for a used one from a similar sized vehicle with the same ground clearance ie. Murano, Pathfinder, Infiniti FX, etc.

I was changing the spare tire in the driveway and didn't put the emergency break on (driveway seems pretty flat but apprently not). The jack was damaged when the car rolled back (just a bit).

I thought the same thing, went to a couple junk yards looking for a similiar size (crossover/SUV) nissan car with no luck.

Cant believe the dealer wants $180 for it.

Ouch! At least you didn't get hurt.

Note to self: Buy a pair of wheel chocks so this does not happen to me.

Great advice, Philipa. Back in another life, I had the receiving department of a major tire company. An incident at another plant seriously injured an employee. I told my foremen that no trucks were to be unloaded until the drivers had chocked the wheels. A lot of the truck drivers pi//ed and moaned but the rule held. An important part of your post was "a pair". It takes two for sure.

It might be a good idea to go to an auto parts store and get a pair of jack stands. They're only about fifteen bucks, but putting one under the car when you jack it up lets you move the jack away and eliminate that particular hazard until you want to lower the car again.

Just a thought. (Chocks are good for keeping it from rolling on the jack, but then you're still relying on a jack to keep part of your car in the air.)

There was a Rogue jack on e-bay yesterday (Sunday, 3/8/09). If it's still there you may be in luck.

The jack is basically the same for most Nissans. I used the Rogue jack and the my wife's jack from her Nissan Quest the other week to jack up one side of the car at once to change over the tires.
