I have a mild rod noise at high rev. Should I just drive it till it pops a rod and do a swap? cause a rebuild seems to cost more.

This doesn't seem to be a question for the mechanic section. This is more a, "what would you do?" question. If you know what it is and have determined that a rebuild would cost you more than a swap, then drive it till it dies, and swap in another motor. You have already determined this though.

well the question wasn't really stated... the question is if diagnosing and fixing the problem cheaper or more expensive than buying a used one and swapping it in.

Before you do anything else, check the oil pressure. If it's marginal, then the motor may be starving for oil at high revs.
