As some may know I am assembling a built motor consisting of Arias pistons, AMS rods, ARP everywhere, new oem crank and oil pump, oem main and rod bearings, slightly worked oem rebuilt head, cometic hg, blah blah blah blah. I double checked all my bearings for clearance issues and there were none to speak of, however I can move the number 2 and 3 rod ends a little bit back and fourth not easily but they still move, when I had the pan off before the motor gave way I was also able to move them a lot easier back and fourth. I am a little paranoid about the movement and was wondering if I really needed to be.

thats pretty normal. The rods are not as wide as the crank journals so there's room for movement. The piston in the bore will keep the rod straight.

Thanks Wild_maxx, I reckon I am just paranoid, seeing how much time and money has been put into this.

ahhh i was the same way when I began installing all those shiny new parts. I almost didn't want to put it together because everything looks so nice. :D

BTW: A little trick I used when taking the K1 tech./turbo240 rod caps apart. There a ***** to seperate so I just put a thick rag around the rod, put the rod in a bench vise then took off the ARP bolts. Re-thread the bolts about 4 turns then take the rod out of the vise. Holding the rod caps in your hand, lightly tap on the rod bolts with a rubber mallet to seperate the bottom half of the rod. Work each bolt side evenly until it pops off.

That's exactly what I did as I think I read that in a previous post of yours. When the rods first came in I thought they forgot to seperate them while machining there wasn't a single seem visible, it was crazy.
