Rod Knocking in a '89 240sx

I'm buying this '89 240sx next month. It has the KA in it, all stock. When you start the car it all sounds fine, but when you start driving you can hear a rod knocking noise. My friend was saying that it's a rod knocking and if we don't get it fixed there is a possiblity that the engine will go out. So like should I get with the guy and get a compression test? What do you guys think the problem might be?

Okay so I searched up and have been looking at all the diff. articles on it. Um, crap, that's all I have to say on that. I thinking I should just looking into getting another 240, but how do you prevent the rod knocking anyways?

if its what I think it is (probably 50/50 chance) then eventually, somethings gonna break, and tear the hell out of the engine. The only way to preven that would be to replace the parts in qestion.

If a car you are planning on buying is making loud banging/knocking noises its a good idea to just walk away and not look back. Seriously you don't want to buy a car then have to rebuild the engine right away, even if its not rod knock something is probally wrong. I'd check out the Nico classifieds, theres lots of cars for sale there that have been well taken care of. Oh and welcome to NICO!!!!!!!!
