Rod Knock???

I was just wondering if a car has rod knock and you can hear it at idle, would you still hear it while revving???

alright so i was talking to a friend, and it doesnt make the ticking sound when i rev, so he said it is probably a valve. does this sound logical, and if it is a valve, how serious of an issue??

i assume you have a 240sx by your name, but more info (year, engine, etc...) would be nice. a common problem with the KA series engines is timing chain ticking, which could be the problem

a rod knock is a loud metalic knock. it will usually double up if your rev the motor. for example...idle-knock knock knockrev-knockada knockada knockada
