Hello All,
Alright so, I hate to have to report this issue but alas, a rod knock in my 1990 240sx. with a KA24E from a truck. Im pretty low on funds right now and am wondering what the cheapest option would be to fix this issue? Should I just rebuild the current motor and but a cheap motorcycle to ride until the motor get finished getting rebuilt? I plan on doing some bigger HP goals for this car maybe a VH or a RB20 swap not sure yet or just rebuilding the KA with forged pistons and boosting my way to drifting happiness. What should I do?
Thank you guys!

The cheapest option is to rebuild the current KA. Unless you find a really good deal on a known good KA. Used is sketchy because you never really know the condition.

Sorry to hear about the rod knock. I'd pull the motor and give it a nice refresh. A used 250CC on/off road dirtbike is always a fun option to get you around in the mean time.

Just my .02

If you do plan on a rebuild, make sure the crank and everything is ok before you buy parts. I didn't.

Cheapest option is to run it with the rod knock haha.

Single slammers should be pretty cheap (under $300). I'd probably just look for a used one. Things tend to get more and more expensive as you dive into the engine. There's a lot of gaskets and stuff to replace.

On top of the gaskets and seals you have a good deal of machine shop labour to factor in as well.
