65000 clicks on the odometer..lolno cel...i use 91 octane....why chevron or mobil?i really hope its a valvetrain situation, not the rods...but i have a sneaking fealing it is what it is...gwoods wrote:Well I'm surprised your engine is staying together at 65,000 rpm!
What grade fuel are you running?
Any new lights on the dash? CHECK ENGINE?
I'd try running 91 octane Chevron or Mobil and see if it goes away. If it doesn't go away take it to the dealership. The damage from knocking is progressive not immediate.
i did...i also changed it too...rn79870 wrote:CHECK YOUR OIL!
i usually run shell, or chevron 91..who knows what the previous owner did..i know the dummy switched from synthetic to regular motor oil on the regular, so imo that may have caused some rod bearing damage.gwoods wrote:Manufacturers rate gasolines, Chevron and Mobil are "top tier" gasolines.
91 octane a Joe's gas and go may not be as good as 91 octane at Chevron. Chevron has a lot of additives in it that help keep your motor clean inside. I run a tank of Chevron every 4th tank and use quick trip the other 3 tanks in between.
When do you hear the noise? Any chance of you posting a sound clip? Anything loose under the hood? Like the oil filler cap or dip stick?
yes i just did the first oil change since i bought it. it dosent consume oil at all. I check the oil 3 or 4 times a week due to all the things i read about the g burning oil..i wonder what additive they are using at the dealer, and if i should add something..i have receipt for everything the previous owner did, and they changed the oil often, but like i said switched back and forth from regular to synthetic oil...not sure if thats caused a problem or not....so my plan is to go to the dealer get a oil pan gasket, and do another oil change and pull the oil pan...the connecting rods will be exposed, and i can get a look and feel of how the bearings are..at least thats what im thinking...i cant afford to pay a dealer, and i do most work on all cars ive owned myself. including pulling and replacing motors.gwoods wrote:Are you changing the oil yourself?
I had some oil consumption on my 07 when I first bought it then I started letting the dealership do the oil changes and it stopped. I noticed that the dealership is using an oil additive $4.95 on my bill?

i purchased this car used..it has no warranty. How many miles on your car when that happened?precision93 wrote:Mine used to make a tapping noise after long trips. Later it starting doing it after short trips. Took it to the dealership, and they replaced the motor under warranty.
its definately not a ping from bad gas..ive run a few tanks and it still does this..i noticed last weekend..any oil treatment advise? like lucas or what?zozoka1212 wrote: I would try some octane booster just in case you've got a crapy gas. Also maybe a good idea to get some oil treatment.

do i fall under any lemon law?
I think the lemon law only applies to new vehicles. Did you buy it from a dealer or an individual? 65000 miles shouldn't be that much on a G engine.toddnos wrote:anyone know about california lemon laws? This cars cd player broke the first day i had the car,the seat recline button stopped workingno i believe i have a rod knock

i bought it from a mitsubishi dealer..it shouldnt have this prblem already..i know this. Im super pissed this car has been giving me problems..all of them minor until this....i bypassed the broken cd player by gettin a tape adapter for my mp3 player, and im pretty sure i can figure out why the seat wont recline, but i really dont want to re bearing a v6 from out of the oil pan on a 65000 mile motor..it makes no sense.rn79870 wrote:
