Sounds more like a lifter than a rod...rod is usually louder and deeper and lower sounding.
Old school way to fix noisy hydraulic lifters - change the oil, and substitute one quart of oil for one quart of automatic transmission fluid. Let it idle with that fluid in there, and the noise should go away within 20 minutes or so
It really works, I'm not just passing on a myth lol. I did it at work one day, when this guy was scared he was gonna need a new engine in his Ford Ranger. Went away in like 15 minutes...the guy was ecstatic lol
There is also a product you can buy for $30 or so that does the same thing, and it works great. If you are more comfortable using that, then try searching these forums for it, it's in a few threads.
