I have an 05 Xterra, and am already regretting no purchasing one with the upgraded stereo. Since I am an aftermarket parts guy anyways, I was thinking about upgrading the whole stereo for the vehicle but I can't find a good location for any subwoofer. I know the Rockford system comes with an 8" woofer, and since I don't have that version I don't know where they hid that woofer. Anyone know? I have looked for other locations to put a woofer but none really stick out to me...

where does the RF one have it.....?? If you dont know you can call the dealer..

you could always just have a small box right behind the seat......

So with some investigation I figured out what I am going to do. As I want to not limit any of the space in the car, I found the location of the Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and found out you can order one of those through Nissan. It is a box with an 8" sub that sits underneath the drivers side seat. Not bad, andI will be mounting the amp under the passenger side seat and see how that works out.

hey peterose-I am totally looking into doing this myself. any aditional info on how you plan to hook things up would be great (ie added speakers, amp info, aftermarket head unit, and where you purchased each). Willyou be having this professionally installed? how much do you estimate it will cost? any info would be great!!

Damnit, I so badly want to not recommend this, but you're a sponser, so W/E

Now to the thread creator. Please do not buy tha tstuff from the Nissan dealer. You can get much better stuff from an aftermarket dealer. If you have any carpentry skills at all you can make the box yourself.

The nissan amp is ridiculously overpriced, so is the sub and box.

The total cost of sub/amp/box should be around $250~$400 depending on the amp you go with.

I recently traded in my 05 Frontier CC. I took out the subbox. I'll ship it to you for $150...

I'm in the same boat, I have an 05' X-Terra and the stereo sucks. I'm going to upgrade the speakers first, it says you can fit 6x9 but you can get nice 6.5" to fit too if they are not too deep. I was looking at some MB Quart, I was going to do that first and than attack the other issues of power and sub.

The subwoofer should be under the drivers seat with the rockford fosgate stereo. You might find something to fit at crutchfield.com

Chris,

I have the '05 Xterra w/ the RF package, but was wondering if there is a bigger RF amp out there (OEM or aftermarket), w/out having to re-wire. I'm also thinking about replacing the front speakers and tweeters for better mids and highs.

Thanks,

I almost think I should break out a stereo's section for the Truck/SUV owners who frequent this site. Keep us posted on your progress and post some pics if you get the chance.
