rocker rattle

hey guys... i have a 1990 240 with the KA single cam in er and it runs great and all but when its revin bout 3 grand it wants to rattle somewhat.... does anyone know what could be causin that at that rpm level??? thanks

Timing chain. Most likely slacked chain and/or broken oem chain guides. It needs to be fixed, if you run it for long amount of time it will wear down the side of your timing cover and oiler pin.

this symtom points towards timing chain but could also be one or more of your lifters, unlikely.

Always keep your sohc oil level at mid section of dipstick range to prolong lifter life.

no all the timings been replaced, and it only does it when its at higher revves... and i dont know if its just warn rockers or just enough oil up there to not trigger the light to come on... but it runs great other than that

hey man... sorry you were right... i was thinking of the old engine that we just took out of it that replaced the timing... and yeah i pulled the valve cover off and i had about an inch of the drivers side guide left... sorry again man... and thanks for the help
