my friend said if you have them instead of the arms coming off they will break under the pressure. is that true?

ehhh whether they start floating or just beark... either way if your rocker arm starts to go where its not supposed to.. then your head is farked either way.

IMO, RAS does provide some protection against your rocker arms flying around in your head.

ive never heard of an issue with rocker arms. and ilikemy240sx is right. if your rocker arms go you need to start searching for another head because something is seriously misaligned or coming way loose. rocker arms prevent float, float does not apply a ton of pressure because its caused by a high speed rotating mass, so if you have valves that are supplying pressure to rocker arms so much that it would cause damage by the time you found out your head would be in pieces because you would more than likely be experiencing some sort of internatl head damage before the RAS or the rocker arms gave out.

This is not ture. All the pressure would be on the back of the rocker arm.And i dont see how the back of the rocker arm could snap..And If it did wouldnt you rather have a rocker arm brake in place or brake and fly around in the head.Iv never heard of anyone braking anything when they had RAS.

things can still go wrong if you have ras.

but they are good protection from things flying around.

Things can still go flying with a RAS. They're no protection if you put the guides and shims reversed. The RAS are a cheap insurance on your investment if you plan on revving to redline though assuming everything else is working as they should.
