Are there any instances where the stoppers are necessary or are they more of a precautionary type of thing. If not then in what instances would i possibly need them? THANX

It's a good precautionary thing to have. If you miss a shift when you're racing, and have your engines RPM's go skyrocketing, they can protect you. However, they aren't "necessary."

It will help in the prevention of valve float...a RAS kit and some aftermarket valve springs should strengthen your valvetrain considerably. Something you should be concerned with when adding big power.

For the most part, it depends on how much power you want to make, and how often you're going to be taking the car near the redline. I'm a high revving junkie, so I went for the RAS because I figure that the extra insurance is necessary given the way I drive.

I like to rev junkie too! but besides the point who makes good ones and how $$. Also if i have like say a rev limiter from a MSD Ignition then i really shouldn't have to worry right?

Just ask Pat about his SR..... missed a shift and did like 1k in damage to the head, pistons, ect. RAS is pretty cheep insurance IMHO.

if you decided to add ras, what else would be good to do at the same time?

Valve springs and cams (if you want). The valve springs are another good preventive measure against valve float...and they are 'cheap' too.

I'm doing valve springs at the same time, knowing that sometime in the future I'll be getting some aftermarket cams.

I'm not familiar with ras, I assume that its internal work right? If so, it may be a good time to build the engine up as well (if you have the cash).

not really, you don't even have to take off the head to install ras, i think just the valve cover and cam squirters

I was wondering if you could email the pics to me, because I thought that it was your website. I got a copy of Acrobat though, and just downloaded the whole directory. Are yours the Tomei RAS? I just picked mine up at HKS today, and they don't look anywhere nearly as nice.

I'm about to put in some HKS RAS on my car tonight.... any tips to give that would help me before I start?

Looks like a fairly straight forward install.

What about torque specs on the bolts holding down the RAS and also to re-tighten the valve cover back on?
