Getting a new one tomorrow at 9am as soon as Kenjuku gets into work. My GF is gonna pick it up and drive it over.

Should be to work ontime at noon :)

The RAS isn't bent, dinged, or otherwise looking like it even had a workout. There was a little spot where you could tell somthing touched it, but it was hardly noticable (almost could have been put there when I installed it).

But I only broke 1 so maybe that's what saved the rest of my motor from coming appart.

I also found out that they run pretty good on only 3 cylinders, enough to drive like 60 miles at 80+mph anyhow. And it will still make 1 bar in that configuration, but it lags a lot worse.

nope, step 1 cams and just the RAS. Scott at Secret Sercives seemes to think that that's acceptable. I missed a shift so I can't say that he's wrong, just my dumbness that did it.

i dunno. missing a shift wouldn't stress a rocker like that. i think that it was just ready to go

Man oh man, we have 2 motors in the shop now that look exactly like yours. Pesky rocker arms. The FSM says to replace these items as well as the rocker arm keepers aka valve shims. Nissan's fired for this design.

well, when I say 'miss a shift' I mean 8000+rpm 3rd to 2nd at about 100+mph.

Not good for long term use

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! what are rocker arms... come on, really, I've never seen those;)?

I am gonna have to say read the sig, and remember the good old days! BTW, this is excellent for all the silly SR guys (both here and OrlandoForums) that think that RAS are the end all cure for Nissan's bad design. Come back to the dark side Paul! :firedevil

But in reality, this sucks man:(... if you need any nissan oem parts, call my cell saturday, and I'll get you your stuff! I hope its not too expensive to fix it...

BTW, gotta link this to the CA forums for ya:pface

How high did you rev the motor? Valve float sucks. I wrecked an L-series valve train a few years ago.

What's the lift on that cam?

Edit: Ouch... 8000+ before the downshift? Bro.... :(

Before this gets too out of hand, I have to stand up for my motor real quick. Paul downshifted at 8000 RPMs. 9 out of 10 KA-T's won't even spin to 8000RPMs. CA's will do it, but will they be generating the same amount of torque at that point as an SR?

One of sixteen arms broke. That's not bad, for stock valve springs and cams with more lift and duration than stock.

Paul, am I safe in assuming that SS removed the 7800RPM rev limiter? Do you always rev your motor that high? If so, I'm jealous... and can't wait to finish tuning mine.

yeah obviously 400+HP SR owns my ~250HP CA... probably even on 3 cylinders... I'm not a huge SR20 or s14 fan, but I'd make an exception and take Paul's car!:boink

one of eight ;)

This is all in jest by the way guys, we all know that all Nissan motors totally kick arse so there is no point in bashing. :D

Since were having fun in this thread I'll just have to say that the KA-T's wouldn't NEED to spin to 8000rpms, we've got the displacement to make up for our lack of revs AND we tend to have more low end torque :D Sorry about your rocker Paul, have a blast putting the new one in ;)

RAS is to prevent valve float people. Rockers are still a suck *** design and can/will break from running at high rpms and/or tons of power.
