S14 SR20DET.No Mods.I checked my HLAS, and when I put everything back together, I must have screwed something up because on third cylinder on the Intake side the valve fell in when I started the car.Apparently something was off, either the guide, the shim or the timing.

The spring is fine, visually, the valve retainers are fine, the shims are fine and the rocker looks ok. The valve though is all the way down and I can see it by looking down throught the middle of the sping.I thought of manually cranking the car(im sure I cant do any more damage than already done) and having the cylinder press it up while I compress the spring, hoping that the vlave comes up enough for me to put the retainers back on.or pulling the head...NOOOOO!Any suggestions? A magnet? A magical elf?

the reason the valve fell isbecause the retainers were not properly seated. as for getting the valve up into the head, if you started the car and ran it with a dropped valve, its most likely bent and not going to come back up. if it by some chance is not bent and you were able to get it back up how do you plan on installing the reainers with no tension on he valve? pulling the head off is the way i would go, you may find out you need a piston and or cyl head from this mishap.
