I dont know of any DIY repairs but i know a good body shop could fill them in for you before they start to spider web out.

alot of insurance companies will fix them for free. just call your insurance and ask them where to get them fixed. i know at my local grocery store they have a little booth setup.

Since you're a Washingtonian, you probably have NOVUS somewhere nearby. Any insurance company will issue you a claim# for rock chip repair (as long as you have comprehensive insurance), and NOVUS will honor it. They do a very good job, the rock chip in my wife's windshield was filled by them almost two years ago and it hasn't re-cracked or spidered.

I got a kit at Walmart once that worked pretty well on the bullet hole type chips(but didn't do crap for one one that spidered out).It cost me a few bucks only. Of couse I can't find the same kit anymore. They have a different one for about $10 but I haven't tried it. Might do soon. I have one that I want to fill before winter sets in.

Why bother trying to find a repair kit? If you have comprehensive insurance, your insurance company will fix it for free. And it's one of the few things that WON'T jack your rates up.

Because I don't trust insurance companies farther than I can throw them. Government mandated con artists is all they are.

However, I did go get the $10 Fix-a-windshield this weekend and it did a pretty good job. I fixed 3 bullet holes, one with some slight spidering. If you look closely you can find where the damage was, but I'm sure if I had been a little more patient I could have got a little better result. But for me it is fine.

The instructions were pretty simple. The only thing was that the resin tends to get all over your hands during the process. But that may just be me, I ain't the most carefull DIY'er around.
