my rb20det in my 1993 240sx hatch, lost oil pressure and i believe spun a bearing. What are the steps in replacing it on this car.

p.s. jarco sucks as, second engine and only had it for 2 days

dude if you got the motor thru jarco and it died i HIGHLY doubt it is their fault.if you search you will find out that the rb20 is plagued by the short snout problem...however intial restart and what not are important.its easiest to just pull the motor out and replace the bearings that way, but inspect the oil drive snout and the pump for damage.

replace the main bearigns while you're at it. your crank may need a repolishing...

however, I found that you at Autopart stores you really need to talk to someone who knows what your talking about b/c no one knew jack when I tried to source it for the first time.

Clevite 77 pasti-gauge is like $1 at AutoZone and they keep it behind the counter.

We have it at the napa store I work part time at too. Your going to have to pull your engine. Remove the crank. Buy a new oil pump most likely. Buy a crank collar and get that machiened on there. Buy a new set of main and rod bearings. Get the crank journals polished and posibly have to crank balanced too. It would be nice to have a factory service manuel to check the specs of everything else. Then you can make shure its going to be ok once you do fix the crank. I did all this even before my rb20 ever was started. The engine sat for a good 2 years im shure before i got it. My rb20 had around 40k on it everything was mint inside. But now when i drift it and have it tuned for 300whp it should hold together I hope.

same here with my 25.

Engine was fine when i got it, and next week will be 2 years and I have yet to run the engine in my car. Replacing all the vitals so when i do run some power I don't have to worry as much about those parts.

Pulling the motor to do the job is the only and best way. As well, check all the components when you tear her down so you can accurately source the problem and prevent future ones.

Good Luck and let us know how it all plays out.
