I have a 2000 Maxima with 270k on it and I have a problem. I have a roar in the right front when I get over 30mph. I am eating tires on that side but not the left side. I was wondering if it could be a bad strut or if I have another issue. Thanx for any help, my wife is worried.

Welcome to NICO.

Sounds like it could possibly be the wheel bearing. You can jack up the front end and see if there is movement in the wheel (side to side, up and down).

Is that bearing pressed in or can I change it in my garage?

It is pressed in.

You can find info on replacing the wheel bearing starting on page AX-5. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Maxima/2000/ax.pdf

From the previous post, check to see if there is movement in the front end
by moving side to side and up and down.

If the tire is wearing incorrectly on one side;

Sounds like it could be ;
1) Wheels need aligning
and or old parts need replacing including
2) Struts, Control Arms (balljoint worn), inner or outer tie rods, connecting rods
3) Check your tire to be sure there is not a broken belt in it-you might need to
go to the tire store and let them look at it

How many miles on the car? Have you had wrecks or bad contact with a curb etc?
