Orlando, FL -> Atlanta, GA -> Chattanooga, TN -> Nashville, TN -> Not much going on, Kentucky -> Nothing to see, Illinois -> St. Louis, MO. Pardon me if I glossed over one or two towns :gapteeth:

I shall be making this leisurely trip some time next week. Anyone of you guys and girls located along this route? Any interesting things to see? Google predicts an approx 14 hour drive (18 hours if I find myself in Atlanta at a bad time) so I am eager to break the drive, take some diversions, eat good food, see beautiful sights.

Oh, and meeting fellow forum members/ M owners would be a bonus. I welcome your input.

I hear Nashville has yummy food, so I'm sure that'll be a good spot to stop for the night, etc. Otherwise, safe travels.

Look on the food network website for good food locations.

Thanks guys, I'll check the website for places around Nashville... unless they have like a "map your trip" functionality as well.

I have used one weather app that tells you what conditions to expect at every point in your journey given a desired start/arrival time.

Im in Jacksonville florida, not sure how far out of your way that would take you to go from orlando to jacksonville over I10 back to I75. But if you want to take that route you can see my 03 M45 and myself of course, Jacksonville is pretty big so there should be lots of things to see or do.

Gene, Jacksonville is just a little over an hour extra on the map. That's not a big deal as I'm in no rush. And I might be willing to stall in Florida to avoid traffic further ahead, especially in Atlanta.
Heck, if we play this right you might get that y34 key fob hand-delivered to your door

Looks like we're getting some "weather" this weekend, LOL. Orlando is usually about 4.5 hours north of me (traffic on I95). Not sure when you plan to leave, but depending on what this hurricane does to our area (on the ocean) our plans are up in the air for now. We are considering taking the kids (german shepherd, retriever, and 2 rottys) and driving up to North Carolina to our time share in Duffy. I also have tentative matches to ref in Pa and Va the following week that have not been locked in yet. You will find much of Florida in the north is flat, straight, and well ... boring to drive through. There are some topless donut shops along the way but I've never been. Somehow, I reckon the most beautiful of topless women would find a better place to be topless than a donut shop full of sweaty truckers. I picture the waitresses as the older, larger women waitresses seen in movies with truck stops. :frown: That, plus the fact I don't eat donuts has kept my curiosity to a minimum, lol. Besides, Fetucinni is happy to cook for me with her girls out, so I'm good.
I'm hard pressed to tell you about any attractions on your trip through northern FL. The scenery in the rest of the states is pretty though!

Haha, everyone deserves a Fetucinni in their lives. Bless her heart and tell her NICO appreciates her efforts to keep you at home, where you can contribute to us safely. :rotflmao
So you live in the deep south? I hope you and your loved ones are safe from Irma and her effects.

So, I made it back about a week ago, and things have been pretty fast paced. By the time I saw your response, I had already left Orlando and at the rest stop, I tried to do a quick search of the topless donut shops, but no luck.
Only because I was craving sugar to keep me up, ya know. :chuckle:

Man, you weren't kidding, it is boring to drive through Florida as soon as you leave Orlando. Reminded me of driving through Southern Iowa, except for the lack of expansive fields of corn and a little soybean.
I wanted to pass by Jacksonville and probably meet up with GeneLn depending on his availability but my family schedule dictated that I get outta dodge ASAP.

I've got cousins in Atlanta whom I wished to see and wanted to make it in decent time and not disrupt their family schedules.
It was a good break to my trip, with good home cooking, good conversation and a place to lay my head. The next day I got back on the road to get to do some work at home while I had the time off. I'll have to go back and visit, I like the area.

Bonus:
7 speed transmissions are pretty good. I got well above 24 mpg at 80 mph.
Over 430 miles to a full tank as estimated by the car.
These are conservative numbers on a heavy foot.

We really want to go somewhere for the holidays now, but we don't know where. I was thinking about New York, because it's beautiful there now. What vacations do you have planned?

We go to Las Vegas with my wife, already a family and taken from December 28th to January 7th. It's good that we went to a company that found us and organized everything, we were both full of work this month. so you can enter their website to explore options.
