So im surfing the internet the other day and i find a 1990 240sx for $500 i figured what the hell ill buy it and do a sr20det swap right away do the silvia healdlight conversion and some suspention upgrades and ill have a interesting car for cheap. Anyway so the car is a 5 hour drive away and the owner has assured me that the car will make it back from boca raton FL to jacksonville where i live. So me and 3 friends drive down and finaly arive at like 8:30pm. and let me tell you the car is a POS.. the pressure plate on the clutch made so much noise when we depressed it that i thought the motor was going to fall off. So i payed the guy we all piled back into the cars and started home (oh i forgot to mention the car is missing the passanger seat. ) anway so were off were driving back to the highway and my friend (who is driving the 240) goes "dude the ****ing clutch is gone whatever you do dont stop because if we do the car might never start again.." SO its about 10 miles back to I-95, and we cant stop, must have blown through 10 red lights crossing our fingers and blowing the horn. Finaly get back to the highway and call my buddy again and well... literaly the clutch petal is on the floor and my friend is power shifting might as well have had the trany bolted right to the fly wheel. and he can only get 3rd and 5th to sinc. so its about a 4 hr drive and we are halling a wild as up 95 praying the car does not die and all was well and good untill nature called and we had to pull over for my friend to use the facilities and get gas. we have pretty much decided that we are never getting it going again. But as things go we did by push starting the car.. now remember there just isnt a clutch on the car and only 3rd and 5 work so we start the car jump out and start pushing it friend jumps in revs the **** out of it throws it into 3rd and after some very unfriendly noises from the transmission he takes off.. now its all going fine and well but i think at this point i should mention that the car has expired plates, no insurance and no registration... so he is doing ninty its about 1:30 in the morning now and we hit a construction zone just out side jacksonville and of course the cops grab him... so we get a $160 speeding ticket and a $40 ticket for no registration and then like 17 warnings for all the things wrong on the car.... The cop is like guys "half of my citation book could be thrown at you but" i cant belive you managed to get this all the way from boca so im going to let you go with that. we even talked him into helping us push the car to get it going again. First time i have seen a cop laugh while giving someone a ticket.. anyway so after blowing 10 more red lights in jacksonville and drifting through every turn because we cant get below 45 or the transmission shoulds like its going to explode we get it home and push it into the garrage. So im the proud owner of a pos :-)...... Now where can i find a cheap SR20DET front clip?

That is the funniest cars story I've ever heard. Are you gonna go through the trouble of fixing it up??

Hehe, I can get you a motorset, and I guarantee its not a POS. ; )

As far as that cop, you should fight the 200 dollar ticket. : )

Hehe, thats classic. The other weekend a friend of mine and me drove 13 hours for my project 240, but the most exciting thing that happened was we got lost in downtown Madison, WI and ended up in the ghetto. We didn't get a ticket but we feared for our lives. : )

Man we drifted at 60, cause any slower and we stalled, through every corner and light from southside to the beach. and let me tell you the suspention on a 90 240sx sucks after 13 years im amazed im still alive. Yeh after all that work your damned right im going to fix it up.. i think im going to leave the passanger side seat out and put a big sub there and a cooler.. the passanger can sit in the back with lots and lots of leg room.

That's got to be one of the funniest stories i have ever heard. I wish our road trips would be that cool. That's something you are gonna have to tell your grandkids. LOL

man o man. the people at work tink I'm on something. they even threatened to take the internet away from me. (that would be stupid cause I make their website)

ANYWAY, that was some adventure. the part with the cop is killer. I have a 16 hour drive waiting for me if I buy this 240 I'm looking at. Best way to know if anything is wrong with it.

LOL, good story man!!! Reminds me of the time my water pump stopped working and I was an hour and a half away from home. I'd let the car sit for over an hour to cool off, but it would overheat in literally 45 seconds in the middle of February! I had to boot it onto the highway, take it up to 140km/hr, drop it into neutral and shut off the engine and cruise until the car went down to about 60-70km. Then I'd put her into 3rd, pop the clutch and floor it back up to 140. Kept doing this until i almost reached home, but unfortunately the engine puked on me about 10 minutes away from home. Lucky for us a nice older gentleman stopped and drove me and my friends home at about 3 in the morning. Was interesting, but your story takes the cake!

welcome to the club!!! Good luck with your project.

thankyou i got so much work ahead of me its not funny. The entire brake system needs to go master and slave cyclindar (will thouse come in a front clip?) . im going to need to get ahold of some power stearing lines from a 91 + so that when i do the swap the lines will match up to the sr.. There is a 240 in the junk yard that im going to start pulling parts off of (hatchback, mirror, dash and center console) other then that i need a front windshield.. suspention , boost controller, and rims/tires. lots and lots of money and time.. but hey.. thats what a project car is for right :-P.

You shouldn't have a problem locating scrap 240's (s13's) in the yard. A couple good sites are http://www.car-parts.com, they will search all the yards in your area. Also check http://www.ninfiniti.com, Nissan ONLY parts. I suggest getting the car running 100% before doing any serious mods or swaps, just to prevent a future headache. Also take before and after pics, just so you can have another good laugh towards the end of your project!

:D
