Sports And Touring CAr Racing (SATCAR) would like to invite interested drivers to attend the Formula Street Fall Series taking place at four tracks in the Midwest. These events offer a safe, cost effective way to get started and continue in road racing.

Each event will offer run groups for driving school, lapping/practice, race, and lunch time touring - - something for everyone. Drivers will be placed in appropriate groups, depending on track experience.

SATCAR has created a unique form of competition that provides high levels of safety for drivers and their cars combined with a handicap based scoring system that provides fairness for all drivers. The safety based format allows you to enter these events in your street car, or your race car. The scoring system allows a driver to win with 100 HP or 500 HP.

SOUND LIKE FUN - IT IS!! More information can be obtained by visiting the SATCAR web site at: http://www.satcarracing.com. Register for our mailing list so we can keep in touch.

This does sound great, Any chance for more track time is always welcomed.

Unfortunately these events are cost prohibitive for me.

I'm having a hard time justifying paying 4 to 5 times the cost I normally pay to race at these same tracks.

In reply to glitched.

We have not yet finalized our entry fees so I am not certain how you arrived at the 4-5 time cost over what you are currently paying to run at these tracks. Secondly, we have reviewed entry fees of other clubs that are running driving schools and open tracking events and plan to have competitive entry fees.

SATCAR is new and different. Unless a driver fully understands the concept and can appreciate what we are offering versus other types of events, it is difficult to make a valid value comparison.

I'm sorry i didn't realize your entry fees were not set yet. But I arrived at the comparison because you do have estimated costs on your website:

Requirement to participate: A Single Two Day Driving School - Estimated entry cost $ 300

Race Entry Fee $ 400

And if i must go into details:

currently,I pay $80 - $110 for a timed event / race (about .5 hour on track time)and $150 - $190 for driving school / lapping day (1.5 hours on track time)And my pre-existing local club membership works at the larger sanctioning body who hosts the events.

So the way that I understand it, in order to race at a Satcar event, i would have membership cost, license cost, school entry fee cost, and then finally the entry fee cost for the actual event.

I also understand that your events are different in that they are more of a combined version of the two kinds of events I already attend.

Either way a $400 entry fee is more than i pay for (my half of) rent and prices me out of the events.

To glitched:You are adding the fees for each function and that would not be the case at one of our events. Depending upon your experience, you would be entered into a driving school, lapping/practice, or race group for the day. Your entry would be based on that group only.

For your timed event/race events you are paying between $ 160 and $ 220 per hour of track time. At your lapping events you are paying between $ 100 and $ 130 per hour of track time. We may not be quite that inexpensive based on our operating structure and costs but we will not be far off. We expect to be able to offer between 1.5 and 2 hours of track time per day.

Also, do not forget to factor in the cost in time and money that is involved in getting to and from the track. These are real costs that should be included in the decision making process about events.
