Hello all,

New to this site, but I have a question about my Altima 3.5 wCVT.

In the past month, I have experienced a noise that I never heard before. The car has 22,000 miles (I commute from NJ to Westchester, NY over the Tappan Zee). I have heard a groaning noise at about 20 mph and above that I cannot place where it's coming from. My guesses:

1 - Tires/balance - I rotated tires last weekend and it's the same intensity and level

2 - Driveshafts?

3 - A bearing?

4 - Transmission?

Bought it exactly one year ago, so no worries about warranty, but I don't want to take it in if it's something simple like balanceing the tires/wheels. I don't think this is the problem as I rotated tires and have not experienced any steering-wheel shimmy or viberation and problem continues.

It sounds like a groan/vibration and increases as speed increases.

Any thoughts? Any experience with this problem?

Thanks

If the severity of the noise relies on how fast you're going then I would imagine it is a bearing problem. Which bearing is a different problem all together. I would take it in and have them check it out. t's still under warranty so no worries about paying mega bucks to have it fixed.
