I love my 2010 G37x, but it's noisy enough in the cabin that I have trouble using my Bluetooth. I have trouble hearing the person I'm talking to and they seem to have more trouble hearing me. I've been hearing good things about Dynomat and am thinking about having it installed. Has anyone done that already? Is it worth the investment?

The idea is great. We did the Vette, the Z, the 620, the wagon. It makes a tremendous difference in both noise and heat reduction. However, we do not use Dynomat. It's too expensive and it's really not that good. We use GT mat. Great company, fantastic customer service. They advertise with us too. Here's a link to their website. http://www.gtmat.com/ Your contact's name is Tracie. Tell her you're a member on NICO. When you do it, post up a How-To thread. If it's really well done, we'll pimp it out on our social media pages. Good luck and let us know if you have any issues with it (you won't) and we'll walk you through it. :dblthumb:

Here's the thread for the 620 install.

Thanks for the advice. I'm planning to have a local shop do the install, as I lack the time and mechanical ability. Once concern I have is that at least some of the road noise seems to come from the wheel wells and I'm not sure how much difference Dynomat or GT Mat would help with that. What would you estimate is the percentage of noise reduction in the cabin after a full car kit install? I know many are focused on better quality music from their sound system. For me, the priority is better call quality when I'm using my Bluetooth. Better sound quality from the stereo is just a bonus. So I'd like to be able to talk on the phone with a lot less road noise in the background. How much would this help with that?

Check these kits out.... My brother actually works for this company... If they don't have a kit for a certain car yet they'll design and make one...

How many miles on the tires? They have a huge impact to road noise...

It will actually lower the decibel reading by 4-8 depending on how much coverage you put in the trunk/wheel well area. I don't have it in my Z, but have a few Z34 customers who bought it specifically for this purpose and are pleased with the results. If you are fine with that range of decibel decrease, GTMat Onyx will work perfectly. If you are seeking more, I do recommend starting with GTMat and then completing the project with closed cell foam and mass loaded vinyl. Give me a call if you want to discuss this or get a quote for your project!

Here is a review from someone that installed Onyx in the hatch: http://www.amazon.com/GTMAT-Automotive- ... ewpoints=1

A lot %? I didn't measure it. We put it in a 35 year old truck so the difference is remarkable. It surprises me that you would have an issue, considering the G is so new but I have no doubt the GTMat would help you. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I love the car, but it's a noisy ride. I have about 40k miles on it joe, but I don't think it was much better when the car was new and my tires still have a lot of life left in them. I may get a different kind of tires when I switch them out though. I'm a little more concerned with a comfortable and quiet ride than with extreme performance.

I put a left over slab of dynomatt in one door and orderd some aftermarket sound deadner for the rest of car. Dynomatt is way better than cheaper brands.... Its twice aa sticky and twice as thick. Yes it did make a noise level diffrence but it does make your doors heavier. Just barely shut your door and its like a slam ...lol stuff works great. I didnt do the roof, however in your case you might want too..but the sunroof tracks make this difficult. .. So i skipped it. change of tires will probably help too.

Did you ever get the bluetooth update for the 2010 models that helped with microphone pickup?

Thanks Fezzik. The dealership not only never told me about this but when I called told me they'd never ever heard about it.

Glad it helped. Print it off and take it to them so they can research it but they should have a list of the TSB's in their computers system to pull up.

Just completed our annual 1600 mi trek from FL to MN, and yes, the noise is tiresome, can't hear the sound system. We love the car, '11 G37 coupe, but It isn't a quiet road car. We came from a Lexus ES, so we're somewhat spoiled. Our son says he would not drive his BMW 3 series sporty coupe on a long road trip. His car is noisier than our Infiniti.......Get to the point, Bill! ..... What is the estimated cost to have a shop provide and install sound deadening mat'l thru-out?

'71 Karmann Ghia

I used Dyna (something) on the Ghia, but old VWs cannot be tamed down ;). Maybe that's part of the charm of those noisy old cars.
