hey guys I noticed that many of you are from some part of GA. I was wondering if any of you wanted to get a group together and go to braselton, ga to track at road atlanta. what are your thoughts? i've always wanted to do this, but never happened.

thanks joe for showing me the regional forums!

I saw a road atlanta special on SPEED channel a couple months ago. A company called "Year One", hosts this event where your average driver can bring out their car and test the ride out on the track. Year One specializes in muscle cars I believe, particularly GT350's and GT500's.

Unfortunately, the date for this event was on May 18. I remember this acquaintance telling me he went out there with a bunch of friends and paid about $50.00/person and were able to track their cars until the sun went down. If we can get a good number of people going I believe we can rent out the whole track to ourselves which would be awesome. I just sent an e-mail to see what the cost would be to do something like this.

I also heard that there is about 2-4 hrs worth of class to understand how to use your car on the track and all this nonsense before we actually get to go on the track ourselves. When I watched this Year One Experience special on the SPEED channel, there was a pace car (pontiac g6...cute). The driver was very talented though and was beating people in vipers and vettes.

anyways, enough of my rambling. we should get a group together and go. i'll attach the e-mail to this thread once I hear something from them.

thanks silk240. i hope the price isn't too crazy either. I tried e-mailing [email protected] and a representative got back to me but told me i had to contact Joe Greene or someone along those lines. I sent him an e-mail but the representative that contacted me first told me he wouldn't be back until the 16th . So I will keep you guys posted as soon as he gets back. I'm also taking a trip to Chicago so I probably won't be aroudn for a few days.

Has anyone else taken there regular driver car to a track? Should a person expect to burn through the brakes and tires in a session?

okay so i just got word back from joseph greene at roadatlanta and he asked me to send him some more information on the meet to give us a price range. I didn't know what to tell him, so I just told him that there would probably be 10-20 drivers, all amateur. still confused by what he meant.

Good afternoon.

There are a number of ways to get track time at Road Atlanta. I suggest you sign up for one of the HPDE's (High Performance Driving Event) that are held monthly by different organizations.

- BMW CCA (no, you usually don't have to be a member to participate) provide instructors for drivers new to Road Atlanta.- PCA - harder to get into- Barber Motorsports (now has rights to Panoz track days)- CHIN Motorsports - mostly Florida events, but some at RA and Barber in Birmingham

Costs vary, but none of these formats are cheap. I suggest choosing one that provides an instructor so you can learn the most for your money.

I also suggest hitting events from Mar- May and from Sept.-Nov. June-August is so hot; it's very hard on man & machine.

Have fun.Chris
