I'm not gloating, I just recall I had posted something before to this effect, and afterwards I read some Boston fans who agreed with me again call it their year....I imagine next year it will be the same...just like last year, and the year before that. It sucks rooting for Boston.
I appologize if this is callous, unprofound, or generally lacking in coherence - I just got back from the celebrating the Yankees penant win.
Great, enjoy the win and I'm not saying this with the slightest bit of sarcasm. Yes watching the Sox come this close and lose sucks. As I've been a life-long Sox fan it tears me apart to see them drop the ball (literally) over the years. But I grew up in the Bronx before moving out here and just as easily could've been a Yanks fan. Through the masochism, I'm still an eternal optimist and wouldn't have it any other way.
In retrospect they had an awesome season. You have to remember that this team shouldn't have even made it this far. I'm looking forward to next season, Theo Epstein's had a terrific debut and I trust him to make the necessary moves to improve the squad.
I'm still fuming over Little's decision to keep pedro in the eight inning. Pedro's barely gotten any rest the last few weeks and keeping him their after 110 pitches to face a string of lefties is outright stupid. Especially considering how hot the bull-pen has been. I expect him to be on the hotseat for that call and wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't come back next year.
