Yeah that loss was probably the worst loss in Red Sox history. BUT they still had one helluva season and I trust Theo to make the necessary moves for next season. Gotta tip my hat off to the Yanks though, Giambi and Boone came up big.

Red Sox and Cubs fans, hit me up and I'll buy you a round of drinks. :D

I just cannot believe it.

Honestly, who gives two craps about Yankees vs Marlins. Nobody... blah blah blah. This series SHOULD have been Red Sox vs Cubs. Baseball would never be more popular. It would have been the Series to end all Serii.

I hate the Yankees more now than I would have ever thought possible. And I wouldn't be suprised if we didn't see Grady Little next year after leaving Pedro in for 7 2/3 innings.

I'd have to say it definitely blows right now though.

I hope she doesn't like it up the rear, cuz Ben better give it to her that way for all the lame celebrating and rubbing in of the victory at him.

Next year will be THE year, I'm sure. Don't you hate doin' it to yourself every year, even though you tell yourself you won't, you just want so much to believe it can't happen, and then....Aaron Boone....Mookie Wilson...

I'm not gloating, I just recall I had posted something before to this effect, and afterwards I read some Boston fans who agreed with me again call it their year....I imagine next year it will be the same...just like last year, and the year before that. It sucks rooting for Boston.

I appologize if this is callous, unprofound, or generally lacking in coherence - I just got back from the celebrating the Yankees penant win.

What the hell kinda statement is that? Its fact that the networks will gain more from having the Yankee's in the WS than the Redsox.

You cant believe it? I tend to doubt that...i think it was the thought in the back of the soxfans mind the whole night.

Great, enjoy the win and I'm not saying this with the slightest bit of sarcasm. Yes watching the Sox come this close and lose sucks. As I've been a life-long Sox fan it tears me apart to see them drop the ball (literally) over the years. But I grew up in the Bronx before moving out here and just as easily could've been a Yanks fan. Through the masochism, I'm still an eternal optimist and wouldn't have it any other way.

In retrospect they had an awesome season. You have to remember that this team shouldn't have even made it this far. I'm looking forward to next season, Theo Epstein's had a terrific debut and I trust him to make the necessary moves to improve the squad.

I'm still fuming over Little's decision to keep pedro in the eight inning. Pedro's barely gotten any rest the last few weeks and keeping him their after 110 pitches to face a string of lefties is outright stupid. Especially considering how hot the bull-pen has been. I expect him to be on the hotseat for that call and wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't come back next year.

Aztek,

In retrospect, let me say that the Sox did have a great season, and I, as well as most Yankees fans, feared their lineup and was glad that Boone hit his HR when he did so that we didn't need to have White or Weaver throw to the Sox. It was a great game, and a great series - as far as I'm concerned it was the World Series, anything subsequent will be anitclimactic.

My earlier comments were spurred by ****y Red Sox fans that rather than quietly hoping for a Sox win, spout nonsense that perhaps inevitably will not be backed up

I won't be watching the series because nobody interesting is playing. Ratings are won by people acutally being interested. Sure the Yankees have a lot of fans, but a lot more people were interested in two teams who haven't made the series in years (the loveable losers) playing each other.
