I am pretty damn sad over this. I don't have much else to add right now.

This made me think back to when i could just pack up and go to a show with nothing to worry about. No matter what anybody has said, what his movies did for the import scene made a lot of people a lot of money. It also spawned a a drag racing series, NOPI, that i have one hell of a good time running in. RIP

Paul wasn't the most spectacular actor out there but the movies he made weren't Oscar-calibur material either. He was an entertainer and for the most part, he did that well. Regardless of whether or not you liked the movies, someone lost a son and a good friend today and it makes me sad for them. 40 is way too young for any life to end.

It's sad, especially when you consider he was sitting in the passenger seat, so how can you blame him? After learning the identity of the car, I'm not so shocked it crashed. Carrera GT's are insanely fast. 650hp stock and this one was modded somehow. Carrera GT's inspire confidence in ordinary driving but are downright tricky when cornering at its limit. (good friend of mine owned one and used it as a track toy for a few years). Driving very high speed in a ground effects car on an uneven public road is a sure-fire recipe for disaster even if you are an experienced driver. Beginning to sound like that was the case here.

I thought the same thing after I read "Porsche GT" in an article and just knew it wasn't a GT2/3.

I just think of Clarkson having his hands more than full behind the wheel of one on TGUK and Stig spinning multiple times on his way to setting a record lap on the test track.

Sorry to see him go.

I agree with Bex. But to add a bit. His off screen activities far outweigh anything he did on screen. He donated money to good causes, raised awareness on a multitude of issues, and was generally a great human being. I'm very saddened to hear of this.

He was a horrible actor who did horrible films. That's his legacy. At least he did some charity work.

He left behind a young daughter. RIP.

I was just reading an article about him not too long ago. He repeatedly mentioned how much he loved what he did.

I'm sad to see him go.

I met Paul on Pikes Peak in 2011 when he was the pace driver for that year's PPIHC... He was super cool and really down to earth. I'm truly saddened that he's gone. "Too soon, Junior"

The driver, Roger Rodas, was Brian's financial analyist and a SCCA World Challenge driver. He was not inexperienced. Which makes this obvious gross display of excessive speed on the street that much worse. A Pro driver should have known better. But no, now we have a completely senseless loss of life. :tisk:

Keep it on the track! My condolences to the families. Rest in peace, Paul. :frown:

Many Hollywood actors could really learn a lot from this. At least he used his money to help others, rather than spending it on cocaine and other equally useless substances..

The fact that someone lost a loved one far outweighs how good or bad his acting career was..

Indeed, the Stig struggled with the CGT too.

While I wasn't a fan of the F&F franchise, or his craft in general, he seemed like a cool guy who used his fame and fortune for good. That's more than we can say for 90% of Hollywood.

I wish the twenty-and-thirty-somethings we bury as war heroes got the same outpouring of love and support, but I also realize that's not the nature of their biz (and they wouldn't want that).

Watching the video of his Dad talking about his son got me choked up. No parent should ever have to bury their child.

Guys, these were professional race drivers. You're not. Compared to them, you suck at driving. THEREFORE, keep it on the track.

Based on video footage from a parking garage, a minute went by after the impact before there were visible flames. This, I hope, means that he was completely knocked out and wasn't burned alive. Unfortunately, it also means that he wasn't able to get out of the vehicle before it became an inferno. Same thing happened to a friend of mine when he killed himself a few years ago; he drove his Lincoln into a concrete wall at high speed and died on impact, saved from suffering in the fire.

Coroner's report of the autopsy says he definitely was alive as he burned. Carcinogens were found in his lungs, meaning he was breathing in all the burning fumes. Most terrible way to go that I can think of. I can only hope that at least he was unconscious from the collision trauma...

As for Roger Rodas being a pro driver, I'm starting to doubt that. Seems more like a rich guy, weekend racer type who had been to the track a few times and financed his own team. His 8 SCCA races were unremarkable and he destroyed at least one car on the track and had to use Paul's personal 302 Boss as a replacement race car.

All the same, yeah, the CGT is a difficult car to drive/master. Keep all your hooning on the track and play in safe out in these streets.

That's troubling to hear. What a frightening way to go.

I can't imagine anyone remaining conscious after that kind of impact. Regardless, let this be a lesson to you all.

Please be careful, guys.

Paul Walker’s ‘Fast & Furious’ Nissan Skyline GT-R on sale for $1.4 million, nearly triple previous asking price.

With the death of ‘Fast & Furious’ star Paul Walker, the owner of a Nissan Skyline GT-R that allegedly was driven by the actor in the fourth film of the franchise is ready to turn a profit. While the car was originally on sale for around $400,000 before the actor’s death, the price has since nearly tripled to a new asking price of $1.4 million.

The sad part is I think there's probably someone out there stupid enough to pay that price.

According to the latest news, it appears the cause of the crash was simply the nut behind the wheel (100% driver error), not a mechanical failure or debris as many theorized. They're now concluding the car was doing over 90mph when he lost control.

Bump. I saw the film yesterday and I guess his death never really sunk in until now.
Dude had a great smile and seemed to be a great human being. Like was mentioned before, he did a lot for our sport and people in general.
I remember seeing the original in the theater, and multiple (multiple) times while I was living in Germany because it was on sale for super cheap, and one of the only films I knew well enough to know what they were talking about in German. That movie actually taught me a good bit of German while saving me money from keeping me from going to the damn bar every night.
I'm glad the studio gave him a proper farewell in the film. He definitely deserved it.

I gave up on the series after 4. They are truly awful films with terrible acting and action that's cheesy at best. The stupidity takes me out of the poorly written story.

Car culture aside, F&F is a joke.

Paul was a nice guy though, well aware that he wasn't God's gift to cinema, content to keep doing what he was doing while enjoying his life and being decent to others. It's really too bad he's dead.
