Hi

I searched but couldn't find the info. I recently purchased an 07 M35X and noticed I don't have that ring of light around my low beam. All pics I've seen of other M35s with their headlights on show a broken up ring of light around the low beam. I'm just wondering if there's a difference in headlight housings between M35s other than black housing and chrome housing. Or is there a bulb lighting up the area around the low beam?

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Please provide a picture?

There is no ring of light on our car (I also have an 07 M35x).

Found this pic. The light coming from that plastic shroud around the low beam. Mine doesn't light up like this. My buddy's 07 M35 has this piece lit up as well.

Maybe yours was painted by the previous owner as that shroud tends to turn greenish yellow as it oxidizes and its kinda ugly. What color is it?

It still looks clear. I ask because there is absolutely no light coming from that piece. Which bulb is used to light up that piece anyways? My car came stock with halogens which I then installed HIDs and I'm wondering if that's the reason why it's not lighting up.

I definitely don't have that in my headlight.

So I'm assuming there are differences in headlight between the M bodies besides HID vs Halogen and Black housing vs Chrome housing.

I have them. I believe they come stock with hid only and there is no specific bulb for it, it's just the main low beam shining through those "cut outs".

TDot is probably right. My car was non-HID and I made it HID.

To my knowledge, that type of housing came with the AFS "adaptive front lighting system" package which was included in one of those pricey option packages - the low-beam bulbs pivot into turns while driving. Look next to your mirror adjustment buttons, You should see a switch that says: AFS ON/OFF. If you con't have this button, you don't have that package on your vehicle and your headlamp housing will look different.
