hey guys,

im rebuilding my ka24e and i had it bored .020 over with .020 rings and pistons. the pistons will slide i and out of the bore perfectly but wen i put the rings on, it wont even budge after they get past the ring compressor and into the cylinder. i checked my ring end gaps and the top ring was perfect and the second ring gap was even a lil too wide. could the piston rings actually be bottoming out on the ring land? like the ring land isn't deep enough for how wide the rings are? please help as i've been out of a car for a month and a half now and desperately need it running again. thanks!

They will be tight, make sure the rings are really .020. are you liberally applying oil on the rings when installing them?

i know they should be tight ive built several sbc's but theyve never been this tight u literally have to beat the piston to get it to move. and yes they are .020 over rings and i used quite a bit of atf when installing
