Well, I have projects for this summer... I have about 500-800 that Im going to spend in something cosmetic..... Sorry no 4.08, probably wont be doing that on this Q.... :)

My options are basically a set of rims, or a set of new katzkin leather seats with suede (if i decide ot do that).....

What do you all think..

Seats Wes, seats. You just got some new used rims not long along. Time to take care of the interior. Your seats do need a little more work the the wheels in my opinion.

I'd do the rims but I'm dying to see how the seats will look.

With the budget you stated the more sensible thing would be the seats.I would think. If you go with rims you gotta figure tires etc.

D.

By the way “Rex”, are those rims in your sig pic 17s ? If so what width?

Yes, they are 17's, but unfortunately, I don't know much more than that :(. They were on the car when I bought it, so I don't know width or brand. I've looked all over the rim and can only find a load rating value in kgs. They were mounted with Bridgestone RE09's or something like that in a 245/25/17 size, so I have faith in the "quality" of the rim and guesstimate them at a 7.5" or 8" width.

Hope that helps.

Definitely do the seats.

Maybe AZhitman will buy a few more sets of wheels for his Q, and you can get a "freebie" set from him.

You know Wes, I changed my mind. The seat are what you need the most. You have a little bling with the chrome piepans now. Maybe down the line when you want a little better handeling, you get the new wheels.

To add one more thing, I'd reconsider the suede. I'd wonder how it would hold up. Suede picks up dirt and is harder to clean than leather. Think about it. Instead of the suede, go for perferated leather insert. That might look nice.

Whoa, this guys using logic and talking sense, doesn't he know you're a teenager?

Come on guys, I'm trying to use reverse psychology on him :D.

He knows seats are what he needs. Especially now that he's got his tunes improvew, more people are going to want to sit in the car.

The seats carry a 3 year/unlimited mileage warranty. The suede will be dark so that shouldnt be that big of a deal..

If I dont do the suede Ill do a 2 tone tan/brown..... With tan being the perimeter color and brown being in the middle... Maybe a little pinstripe action and some custom embroidery... GOLDEN; HOLE IN ONE; Q45

Lou.. Great idea on the rims, ill just wait until hitman finds something better than his 18s :D ULTIMATE BLING BLING

I hope I didn't get in the way of you getting the Hitman's rims this time. He's giving me a good deal on them and I think I'm getting them. I'm just waiting to hear back from him on the shipping.

Wes....how bad are your seats? They can't be that bad can they be? I am sure a nice new interior would be great and give you that new car smell and feel, but I am just can't believe that your total interior needs to be redone. Did you ever check on those seats from the junkyard that I posted in a previous thread? The car only had 56K on it and I think the seats were the same color as yours, but not certain and I am sure they can give you the VIN# to run the color check.

You've got a tough decision to make here Wes. What's it going to be? Rims or Seats?

Buy some APC racing seats, like in RED or YELLOW. They are $160 each, from J C WHitney.

That would save you about 400# of weight, and look cool! It would also give you more rear leg room.

ACK!!!!

LOL @ Jeff.

Wes,

I bought new wheels for my car but haven't mounted them yet. I'm just not comfortable with new shoes when there's other obvious stuff to be done first.

As it stands, it'd look like the wheels are worth more than the car. When the seats and interior are finished, as well as maybe an IPQ treatment on the bronze stuff, then it will warrant the wheels.

My 2 cents.

So basically what your saying in order for the rims not to stand out like the 22s on the old school caprices with rust, the rest of the car needs to be nice...

The rims are supposed to COMPLIMENT not supercede... I think the chrome pies are doing a good job of that...

When I met up with andre today his piepans were absolutely hiddeous.. I didnt really know how ugly they were, the chrome piepan is the only piepan id run anymore.....

Sick and Vile Seat #1. Sick and Vile Seat #2.

In conclusion from the preceeding evidence we can determine four things:

#1. Wes, you need new seats.#2. You don't need new rims.#3. You need new seats.#4. Bad.

Hmmmmm, tough one. The suede would be nice, but I think you should try and go with something as similar to the original leather. You're just doing the fronts correct?

No no my friend... GO BIG OR GO HOME.. I thought you knew me better than that... Not in for the 95% deal, its all or nothing.

Its 600 for just the fronts, or 800 for it all..

Good deal. Then maybe go with the suede. You want the back and fronts to match.

Do contrasting perferated leather inserts and piping. That's nice. Do a write up and take a lot of pictures when you do it.

Use some restraint on that interior, big shooter.

Skip the piping, go with a subtle 2-tone. Have one part of the seat match the doorpanels, another match the dash.

I'll fetch you a nice bag of stones Wes!

I'd go with the seats too, wheels come and go, nice seats stay for like 5 or more years with good care!
