Hi guys, has anyone tried putting 17" rims from an 03 exterra on their R50 pathy? They look sharp and I have some available I'd like to try, just curious.

Thanks guys! love the forum :dblthumb:

as long as the rim has the same bolt pattern, it should fit.

Assuming decent condition, a nice deal. I have always like these wheels (some of the only OEM wheels that really look good). Post some Pics!

So let me be the lesson for everyone here... double check your lug nut torques!

The whole way home I had a vibration getting worse, pulled over and looked for something dragging underneath nothing, less than 500ft from my house, wheel came off the front! got it back on and home (after buying 6 new lug nuts) and retorqued all the nuts, everyone took a full turn or more! Buckled the fender badly, I feel like crying.... :frown:

I would strongly suggest getting your lugs looked at. If it were me I'd replace them aswell. I work with tires every day and torque is something we don't mess around with. With a wheel off you can never be certain that the lugs are a 100% ok. You can only do that by replacing them.

On a side note for the most part the max torque for Pathys and Q's is 108 ft/lbs. Don't use the "Tight Is Torqued" method. If you over tighten a lug and pull the stud past its yield point, the stud will break with out breaking off. Driving with the studs like this can cause them to break off while driving. Needless to say NOT GOOD!

That sucks! I too want to see pics though, be interested to see the damage.

Just remember, you don't need to lay down lots of money on a fancy click-style torque wrench. For a DIY mechanic, a simple deflector-style torque wrench is more than accurate enough for lug nuts, and way cheaper. I picked this one up on sale for $8, and it's served me well enough.

Unfortunatley I used the impact wrench is tight method, meaning to go back and torque it but didn't and look where it got me, so now I'm sure I'll be torquing my nutz every 100km or so.

I've been changing rims on my cars for 16 years now and NEVER had this happen before. I called INS about putting it through but they recognize it as a collision claim and hence rates go up. :(

As for the pics, I can't get on photobucket or things like that from work and have no experience using it, I usually just 'attach' pics so this is new to me and don't have the time to frig with it now.

I have the pics of the rims but not the damage if anyone wants to put them up.

For future reference, the owner's manual says to torque to 98 ft-lb (133 N-m).

The mast fitment guide has it at a max of 108 ft/lbs. If your torque wrench is out you won't risk under torquing them. Almost every vehicle in the world has a min and max range. 98 or 108, atleast its torqued.
