Hey guys,

I'm planning on getting some rims, they are the R1 Racing Hype in 18"x8". The package comes with 235/50/18 tires. I've noticed that some 18"s look smaller than others even though they're all 18's. Since i live in Canada i won't be getting the eibach springs, and 19's are a little much ($$) for me. What size of tire should i get, so as to fill the space? However i don't want the rim to look like they're 16's either.

Thanks for all the help!!

235/50/18 may be a whole lot of sidewall for 18s. just my $0.02 See if some one who has 18s with that size tire can post pics

235/50/18 is too much. Overall would be 27.3". I had 245/35/20s giving me 26.8" and that's pretty much the limit for a drop. Of course, if you don't have a drop, by all means, go ahead.

Doesn't matter what size tire you go with. If your current spacing between the tire and the fender is 3", it'll still be 3" no matter what size tire you choose...unless you choose to drop the car.

You need 235/45/18's to match the diameter from the stock wheel to your 18" wheel - 235/50/18 will be too large and your speedometer will be off.

Thanks Guys, this helps a lot...however i have another little question. This has more to do with how the car will look, ie stance.

Here it goes...I just found out that the aforementioned wheels come in 2 different sizes, 18"x8" & 18"x7.5", do you guys think it would be OK to get the 7.5" for the fronts & the 8" for the rear? (the 7.5" are a little cheaper too, lol)

For the wheels i was thinking of going 245/45/18 all the way around, i calculated the total wheel/tire size and would be slightly bigger then the stock 17's.

Thanks once again I really appreciated!!!

Putting a 245/45 tire onto a 7.5" rim is not something I would recommend...you are going to have a huge 'puff,' and you are stretching the sidewall a lot to get that on there...

Staggered wheels on a front wheel drive car is pointless - you get no gains from it.

Get 8" for all the wheels and use a 235/45/18 size for the tires - that matches the stock size exactly, and you won't have speedometer issues.
