Hi, I am looking to buy a new set of rims and tires for the spring. I am pretty set on these rims and tires.

The stats on the rims are 16x7 +42 and the tires are Hankook Ventus Prime K105 205/50R16. The best deal that I have been able to find so far is $1500 shipped. That includes the proper lug nuts and balancing and all the hardware that I would need. Unfortunately for me, the only Motegi's that dont look gay, are the most expensive. I know they will not sit flush with my fenders and would probably need spacers for that, but I really like the look of them, and the fact they are only 12 pounds per rim.

Pretty much what I am asking is if 1500 is too much to pay. That is the best deal I have been able to find so far. Canadian selection sucks, and prices are stupidly high. Thanks.

1500 is a rediculous amount to pay if you're going to need spacers. there are much better looking, better sized and better priced wheels out there, especially used. gosh, even tire rack has better fitting wheels

not that those wheels look bad, but the offset will. basicly a 16x7 with an offset higher than 35 is made for front wheel drive cars. if you're upgrading, try to get at least a 7.5" wide wheel and fit a wider tire as well.

I know, I would probably not even go the spacer route though. That isn't something that bothers me. Everyone else pumps it up alot, but the flushness isn't a deciding factor for me. My main reason for wanting these rims, is well, I do really like the way they look, and the fact that they are really light weight. the 16x7 are only 12 pounds. Where can I look around for used rims? Just on the classifieds or does someone have anywhere else to suggest? Thanks

1500 is a bit overpriced and yes, they won't sit close to flush at all. For 1500 I'd keep lookin'. My rims are 16x8 +10 with 205/50/16. All together it was just a little over a thousand. But each of my rim weighs 17 lbs.

You have the fno1r-c right? The deciding factor for me is still the weight. I don't really mind the flushness with the fender. For me it is function over form. unfortunately it is an expensive function. I haven't seen any other really lightweight ones that I like as much, or for substantially cheaper. Meh, I don't mind. I have yet to sink alot of money into my car, this will be my first big purchase.

how much is your car lowered?

Sacrifice weight for width. You mention function over form, wich I commend you on, but depending on your intentions for the car a ultra light wheel is pointless without the right tire. The right tire will forgive MANY shortcomings, the wrong tire will dilute/negate any potential. This will be one of the more expensive additions you make, I wish you luck with your selection.

I didn't end up buying the Hankook tires, and instead went with the Falken FK-452 - BW - 205/50ZR16. Seemed like a better tire all around. Thanks for the feedback

well, in order to wrap up this topic, I did not end up getting the Motegi rims. I found a used set of Kosei 6 spokes 16 x 7.5 +32 for cheap, and then I ordered a set of Kumho Ecsta MX 225/50R16 from tire rack for $90 each. The rims aren't as light as the Motegi ones, but it seemed kind of stupid to pay so much for a 7 inch wide rim with a 42 offset. The Kosei rims weigh in at 15.5 pounds, so they are still light.

actually, I was using american dollars. The rims were mad expensive, but i really liked the way they looked, and I liked how super light they were. They cost $320 CAD or $275 USD. The more I thought about it, the less and less I wanted to spend that much on them. And besides, that particular size was still in production, and wouldnt be available until end of May. I cancelled the order then came across a used set of kosei k1's for 600 Canadian. These things are in perfect shape. No curb rash, no blemishes on them at all. I was very impressed. The guy said they didn't make them 4 lug in that size, so he had them specially ordered, but I have yet to confirm if that is true. He was a good guy, and had no reason to lie about something like that though, so I don't see why it wouldn't be true. I want to paint them a flat or satin black, but it seems like a waste since they pretty much look new.

I AM SOOO HAPPY!!!!!

I finally got the tires and got them mounted on the rims. I think they look so damn good. Initially I was worried the silver wouldnt look good with the champagne colour of my hatch, but it worked out. Also, the offset is perfect. The rears are pretty much flush, and the fronts stick out the tiniest bit. I guess it helps that I put such a big, fat tire on. 225/50R16 on a 16 x 7.5 +32. I will post pictures up soon. Just going to get take it to the carwash. Initially I was going to wait to put the tires on until tomorrow when I do the coils, but I was too excited. This thing is going to look so good when I lower it a bit. I am not going to slam it, just a couple inches front and back. Anyways, enough rambling. Pics soon.
