Ok, I'm in the market for some new rims. I gotta black '93 240sx w/ stock se rims. I've never put aftermarket rims on a 240sx before and was wandering whats a good size to put on.

Should I go 17in or 18in? Should I do a 5 lug conversion? I was wanting something like a hyper mesh gold rim w/ chrome lip (havent found any so if you know where I can get them, hit me up)

thanks, I'm just looking for some good advice

There are two major reasons to go 5 lug:1. it opens up more wheel options2. most serious break upgrades(new multi-piston fixed caliper types) come with 5 bolt rotors. This is also true of Z32 rotors/calipers, although getting 4 bolt rotors that fit or simple 5 bolt ones that have been drilled to fit a 4 lug are not that hard to come by.

As for wheel diameter, 17" is a good size IMO. 17" will clear most after market break upgrades as well as Z32 breaks, and will come in plenty of sizes and designs.

18s or 19s can still work, but they are heavier. From what I've seen you will have more wheel options in 18s though. This size wheel (once again, IMO) is mostly for show and not needed for performance purposes, in fact the extra wight (especially rotating mass in the powertrain) could actually slow you down a little. About the only time you "need" this size is when running massively oversized full race breaks that won't clear anything smaller, like they use in the GT500 in japan.

5 lug conversions are about $550 brand new just for the hubs!!! if you can find a 4 lug wheel you like... go with it.

17 or 18 is good. but if you're looking for cheap replacement tires... go 16s or 17s

and you shouldn't worry too much about rim size... worry about how wide you want it and at what offset.

browse around google and the forums and read what other people have done. and if you go to a good (non-cheap kind) wheel place, they'll know exactly what will fit on your car... depending on how aggressive you want the wheels to be.
