At 88 - 92 (XL) load rating you are way under minimum OEM load recommendations on the front, the most heavily loaded end both dynamically and statically.sf_y33 wrote:I'm running on

True....but you actually took the time to research the tires that he uses I ride 255-35-20 Nexen tires during the summer. Those tires are pretty good and I'm happy.maxnix wrote:At 88 - 92 (XL) load rating you are way under minimum OEM load recommendations on the front, the most heavily loaded end both dynamically and statically.
The rears are even worse at 86-90(XL)!
Why spend thousands on wheels and a couple hundred on unsafe, too small, inferior no name tires?
Good question. I've never heard of Federal. The load rating on my summer tires are 97. Speaking of tires and rims, well actually rims...does anyone know where I can purchase the 99-01 17" factory 5 bar rims? I want to put those on my car instead of riding with the factory 16" rims. I saw a 97-98 model yesterday with the 17" factory wheels and the car looked great. Also what are the factory tire size for the 17" rims?maxnix wrote:Yeah, his are way to little volume, and who makes Federal?
I run 245/45-18 with a 99 load rating on 18x9 on the FGY33. Not only does the extra load rating help performance in roadholding and braking, it extends mileage also.
Federal makes a decent tire. I've run Federal all-seasons (SS657 I think) on the Maxima a couple of times. They're not bad at all. I wouldn't go to them for my performance tires but for typical car tires I wouldn't be afraid of them at all.maxnix wrote:Yeah, his are way to little volume, and who makes Federal?
Now there's a great endorsement! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.nicoclub.com/forums/image ... lleyes.gif" BORDER="0">burgy240 wrote:drifters run federal all the time because they are inexpensive and stretch well too.
