I've got the OEM 19inch sport wheels, 2 of them have curb rash/gouges along the lip. The gouges are not signfiicant, for the most part I believe they can be sanded/grinded out. I'm more concerned about matching the hypersilver/gunmetal color as I've heard from various wheel repair shops that it is very hard to do since they can't match the factory color/painting process.

I was at Discount Tire (Glendale) the other day and the sales rep suggested that I consider trying out the "mobile" wheel repair guy that comes to their shop to fix other client's wheels. He said the guys does some really good work. Has anyone tried this method vs. taking it to a wheel repair shop? I wonder if there are any major differences? The mobile rim repair is roughly the same price per wheel ($100-125), and you can have your wheels back the same day. I've spoke with a reputable repair shop in La Habra, and they said it would cost approximately ($150) and about 1 week.

If anyone has any good suggestions or references for a good shop in the Los Angeles area, let me know! Thanks again!

Unfortunately I hit a curb yesterday hard and am going through the same thing. I called my local Infiniti dealership and they reccomended their mobile wheel repair that comes to their dealership to repair them. They tell me that they can match the color of the Sport wheels perfect. So, I called them today and they are going to come to my work Monday and refinish all wheels for $425 out the door. I have heard a lot of good things about them. They are a nationwide company so they might be in your area. I would check with them. Here is the site. I will let you know after they repair mine Monday how it goes and how they look. Good Luck!

Thanks for the assistance everyone!

06M35Sport - Yes, please do let us know how it all worked out for you after you get your wheels fixed. I am seriously considering this option.

I was able to buy an reconditioned OEM M35 Sport wheel, but even the finish on that is not as close when compared to original wheels. My original wheels are still a bit darker (gunmental shade) vs. the one I just bought which has a little more silver to it, noticeable if you stare at the two long enough...When they reconditioned it, I think they ended up painting the entire wheel....

With Mobilerepair, my understanding is that they would only paint (with a fine airbrush) the areas that are being smoothed out -- mainly the lip right? Therefore, since they are only painting those small sections, the main face of the rim would still preserve it's original factory color finishes....so even if the lip color is off a tiny bit, it would blend in with the rest of the wheel much more nicely....that is, assuming no other part of the wheel needs repair/repaint...

How can I repair the wheel myself? It has scratches from hitting the curb. (non-sport model)

06M35Sport -

Just curious, How did your rim repair go? Were they able to match the color of the OEM wheel? Was there anything that you didn't like about what they did?

They had to reschedule my repair until Thursday, so I still have not had the repair done yet. They told me that they will refinish the entire wheel and not just bits and pieces. They said this is because they have a warranty on the paint and its better to just redue the entire wheel. They told me that they will get it back to factory specs. I hope so. I will ask again before they start. I wont complain if its a little bit off because I just want them fixed, but if they tell me they will be factory color that is what I will expect. They told me that they cant do it if it rains because it needs some time to cure and if water gets on them right after they do it there will be spots and they will have to redue them. So, I hope there is no rain tomorrow. With that said, I will let everyone know how they turn out tomorrow if it doesnt rain.

Well, I had my wheels refinished today. Unbelievable how they can fix the scratches. One day they are there and now they are gone. They did a really good job of fixing them and refinishing them. As far as the color of the paint, when looking at them you cant notice a difference but I do notice if you look at them close enough that they are a slight bit more silver than the darker gunmetal that SFG noticed on his. However, if they refinish the entire wheel the color is the same through out. Its all a matter of preference. I think they look great. I feel confident that if I asked the question before hand and told them I wanted to make sure it was the more gunmetal finish they could have matched it up. It took them about 2 hours to finish all 4 wheels. Like I said, Im impressed that they didnt just shave the wheel but actually built it up to look like stock wheels around the edges. Overall, very much worth the money. Its nice to have wheels without scratches on them once again. Hopefully I wont have to use them again. I will be a lot more careful now. Im supposed to wait 2 days before I can wash them and cant wait to get the whole car clean this weekend. I would reccomend using them, but just make sure you either tell them before hand you want to match the gunmetal finish if that is what you want or make sure they are going to refinish the entire wheels.
