Also anyone know of any good place to buy 16' or 17' rims with good tires for under $800? online or store wise. I live in Washington state.

I am looking at the following tires at Discount tires:

Enkei -MM2 17X7 4-100/114. 42SM Finish: Silver Machined Silver powder coat with a glossy finish and a machined lip $83 bucks ea

Rage -Breaker17X7 4-114.3 42S Finish: Silver Silver powder coat with a glossy finish $107 ea

Which do you think would work best with the 17":

Tires wise:205/45-17 215/40-17 215/45-17

Some tire choices:Kumho Ecsta 711General Exclaim UHPYokohama AVS ES100Kumho Ecsta SportKumho Ecsta Supra 712Yokohama Guardex F721Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2

Thanks!

well fit as in... just getting it on right? then you can do anything from up to around +40 offset. might need spacers to clear shocks depending on width and offset.

if you want it to fit more properly you'll need something around +25offset more or less. um 18s with good tires for 800 or less means the tires cost more than the wheels?...

you might want to set your budget higher, maybe atleast 200 per 17". try 5zigen fn..... if you must... check classified if you're on a budget.

Thanks for the help. So your saying the Enkei -MM2 will not fit? I have heard good things about Enkei and currently have them as 15"

Also I said I was looking for 17" or 16" (and if I could find good 18" then those) Maybe I should go down to 16" from 17" because in the current situation I am in I need to change my tires ASAP and thought I might as well upgrade the rims...

i work for discount tire co. You should also check out the 5 spoke MB wheels with the lip. those are pretty cheap too.

So I take it both (Enkei MM2 & Rage Breakers) are good and will fit the car? I like both looks wise and price however like the Enkei alittle more because of the lip.

As for the MB wheels I don't like any of their designs...

This is what I am thinking of going for. Please tell me which you think would work best with the 17":

Yes. both wheels should fit. Personally i would go with the enkeis because i dont like how the spokes kind of stick out on those other wheels. I would go with the yokohama es100 because they are good tires and pretty cheap. the generals suck. All those kumhos are good too. Those michelin pilots are pretty exspensive though so i would go with any of those kumhos or the Es100.

Thanks for the help! Would you recommend going with 215/45-17 or 205/45-17, 215/40-17 ?

BUMPHere's a post that was in your other thread of the exact same topic . Maybe this would have been better in the Wheels/Tires sub-forum.
:: orion :: wrote:Width and offset are horrible...!!!

MINIMUM you should look for is 8" wide, and an appropriate offset is around +35 AT THE HIGHEST...+25 would be better.

No, that's not to say those won't fit...but they will be tucked under the fender, and will SEVERLY limit your tire choices.

For $800, your not gonna find much better (unless you go used)...so if that's all you want to spend, what you've found will have to do.

...

As for tire sizes...205/40 is WAY too small.

205/55-16225/50-16215/45-17225/45-17

Don't go any smaller. Trust me.

Yes, I copied the one reply, rather than merging them (doubling your starting post) or deleting (losing the one reply).

If you've read through the stickies in the Wheels Tires sub-forum, I'd be glad to move this in there for you.

17 x 7 +42 wont fit very well at all

although imo if youre going to get 15s you can get a 7 inch wide, if you have 16s or 17s you need 7.5 inches, as not all wheels come in 8 inch width...

heck try a set of those sport max or whatever theyre called, i think they had pretty good sizes and theyre fairly cheap, unfortuneatly i couldnt tell you where, i know ebay somewhere

Ok so I need to look for:

16 x 7.5 or 817 x 7.5 or 8

Tirewise any of the following:

205/55-16225/50-16215/45-17225/45-17

What bolt pattern? 4x100mm?

Thanks!

Good luck finding 16x8s. I'd also suggest the SportMax wheels they are on eBay under staggered.

for bolt pattern you have a kouki i see if its 5 lug its 5x114.3 if its 4 lug its 4x114.3

cheap 16 x 8 probably not, if you somehow suffer memory loss pertaining to your budget you can look at a set of volks

better 16 x 7.5, or 17 x 7.5 or 8

for the 16 x 7.5, which i have, i run a 225/50/16 and its fine

for a 17, either a 17 x 7.5 or 8 run a 225/45/17, maybe a 215/45 /17 depending on what offset you get and what youve done suspension wise

oh ok

then yes like i mentioned above for sizes, offsets really depend on the wheel, probably be best to just post when you decide on a wheel and well check out the offset...good rule of thumb would be between like +22 and +35, theres quite a selection in that range

Hey,

I found these for $600, a guy is selling who had them on his 96' 240SX.- JDM Impul RS gold rims - 17x9 and 17x8 5x114.3 +35 front and +38 back - 245 45 17 | back good years and kumho esta 711 | 215 45 17- really light less then 20lb

The PROBLEM is they are 5 lug and I of course have 4 lug so my question is are these rims worth me buying them now, then spending cash to do a 5 lug convertion. How much will that run me and could I do it myself (or have to pay a shop)?

Thanks!!!

I would say yes, just cause I'm a fa n of the 5 lug swap and all the options it opens up for you.

Glad to see you're getting all the help you need, now that the post is in Wheels/Tires .

Ok, how much will it cost me to do the 5 lug conversion? I take it it comes in a kit? Can I buy it from a online parts store (would be best for me) or is it better to buy from classifelds.

BTW yes I did do a 'search' and am still browsing through all the info but it seems like they are most common on S13's and not S14's.

THANKS!

I'm not an S-chassis guy, so don't take this as the "word", but spend some time searching the parts/car graveyards. I would think anyone selling it as a kit, has a premium mark up built into the price.

I'd suggest a new thread in 240 tech, if you don't find all the info you need from the searches. Might even be wise to reference one of the "found" threads and make your questions specific to information not included within it.

unfortuneatly ive been told tire rack doesnt carry my wheels in 4 lug anymore, just 5 lug

youre going to have a real hard time finding good sized wheels for the price your trying for, up you budget to like $1200, $800 for wheels and $400 for tires, and youll have quite a few more options

Yeah trying to find 16" or even 17" with 7.5 or 8 is near impossible... alot of 18" with 8 though.

I did however find these which look good: $137 ea
