Hi Guys,

I have an 05 G35x. I want to drop the car and put some rims on it. I have no clue what the best of anything is so I was hoping to get some input. I want to get coil overs so I only have to do the job once. What do you think the best company to use would be? I am also looking to put 19' or 20' wheels on the car but I have no idea what specs I need to be looking for when picking them out. I want a nice offset and a big lip in the rear. What would be the specs I should use with either size? I understand they are a little different from other cars and want to get it right, I dont want the wheels sticking out or anything. Any input is really appreciated!! Thanx

Lowering your car AND adding larger rims will make your ride very rough. Not sure if you knew this already, but I thought I'd forewarn you.

I have a coupe with sport suspension and 19" rims and the ride can be annoying at times (great for handling).

Take a look in the FAQ thread in the G General forum. There is a link with information about tire size and wheel offset IIRC.

I'm not sure regarding the coilovers. Maybe another member will chime in with a suggestion.

off the top of my head tein and hks coilovers are pretty popular with the Gs. with rims, i see a LOT of people with volks. but its all about your own preference and how much money you want to spend. what color is your car? its a sedan right? just trying to get a visual of your car... were pretty good at spending your money here hahah

The nice thing about (adjustable) coilovers is you can usually adjust the height so if you wants 20's you can usually set the height so the wheels and tires will fit. The only question then comes to inside rubbing. I don't know enough about these cars yet to tell you what will or will not rub.But as other members have stated, swapping to coilvers and larger wheels will made the ride harsher. Coilovers have a higher spring rate and stiffer shocks and the bigger wheels have smaller side wall tires to absorb those annoying road bumps.

There isn't a coilover setup for the X model. You will have to run a hybrid shock/spring setup.

Thank you all for your input.

I understand how the car will ride with wheels and lowering.

I have found a nice set of TSW's that I will be getting.

Now I'm on to find what I will be lowering it with.

Oh, and sentient, the car is black.

Thanks again guys all input is appreciated!

i have buddy club racing spec dampers (true coilovers) with 19 inch te37's.

i ride slammed and wouldn't change that for anything.

im not going to lie, the ride is pretty harsh because i have my dampers stiff.

usually with coilovers you should be able to adjust the "stiffness" of the shocks. So you can have them set to your liking.

Also, i read alot of ppl have stance, hks, tein, and bc's.

Its all a matter of what your looking for. The reason i got the reason i got the buddy clubs was because the rear are "true coilovers" and that no one really had them at the time, so i wanted to be different. haha.

I love them tho.

Your front bumper looks very intact considering how slammed you are.
